Spiritborn potential build breaking primary hall bug

When using a “skill becomes X_HALL_TAG” on spiritborn, if the original hall is the same as your primary spirit hall, the skill loses its original hall tag.

For example:

Spiritborn uses Eagle primary hall.
Spiritborn learns “Vortex” - An eagle skill
Spiritborn chooses “Insect Swarm” - Vortex becomes Centipede

Result: Vortex is now a centipede only skill.

Why is this a bug? Lets use another hall as an example, a different hall than the original hall that the skill was part of.

Spiritborn uses Gorilla primary hall.
Spiritborn learns “Vortex” - An eagle skill that is now a gorilla skill as well
Spiritborn chooses “Insect Swarm” - Vortex becomes Centipede AND gorilla

Result: Vortex has now both halls assigned.

What is happening?

The “skill becomes” overrides even the assignment of the primary hall effects, rendering them useless. This effect should ONLY override the original skills hall and not the secondary one applied by the spirit hall choices.

I do not think that this is intended because it severely limits build crafting and it seems like a bad override of all the tags without any conditions. Can someone confirm/deny this? At this point i just maxed my SB and i m about to switch. I know we wont be pulling warlock numbers here, but if this is unintended this has to be hotfixed ASAP.

Certainly seems like a bug, easy to see how that bug would happen too.

The order of applying / converting stuff probably applies the spirit Hall first (but the skill is already Eagle, so it doesn’t become “Eagle Eagle”), and later the conversion removes the original tag (that, in this case, is the same as the spirit hall tag).

Hope they fix, as this does limit build-crafting and is counter-intuitive in general.

The “become X hall” should apply first and then add the spirit hall variation.
This way you get both. Now probably the reverse happens, spirit hall applies and then the effect of “becomes” removes the original hall.

It’s actually insanely disappointing to see that something so easy to test, like just add a few skill points, pick a hall and test the variation results, a 1 minute check failed to happen in a core mechanic of the class for the release of a major expansion. Not some random holiday patch.

Was going to post similar, but found your post so to add to it: Gorilla primary hall, crushing hand swapped to centipede using “100 Crushing Fists”, Crushing hand now only centipede despite main hall being Gorilla.

Loyalty’s Mantle It also cannot be applied to “skill becomes X_HALL_TAG”.

Same for Thrash turning into Eagle skill. Unfortunate

Hoping this gets fixed soon. This can’t be intended. Especially with the new set which gives you bonuses for each spirit type a skill has…all these skills just dont work with it at all.

For real. I have gorilla skill ranks on 3/5 of Balazan’s set that I want to play with and it just doesn’t work. Really hope this gets fixed soon

It seems like Mantle knows the base hall, but the skill itself doesn’t. I noticed the Jaguar Armored Hide doesn’t get the cooldown reduction, even though it’s listed as Jaguar and Gorilla isn’t attached to it anymore.

Glad to see someone else reported this bug. I’m using “Crushing Hand”, with the Gorilla hall, and switching to the “100 Crushing Hands” variant, removing the gorilla tag, despite the hall saying that all skills are now also gorilla skills.

Yeah I just encountered this bug while trying to create a Resolve/Ferocity build using Rocksplitter taking Inner Ferocity, and then Gorilla Primary doesn’t re-give it the Gorilla tag. Extremely disappointing as it neuters so many options.

still hasnt been fixed. my rock splitter inner ferocity variant refuses to become gorilla with either wumbas, gorilla primary hall or ebewaka. this breaks build variety completely…

Yeah I just started Spiritborn this season and ran into this same bug. So weird that it hasn’t been fixed when it basically renders these skills completely useless for many builds, ruining what was meant to be new flexibility with the class. And the season ends in one month.

Not completely sure, but it looks like it’s just a tooltip issue. Using the eagle variant of Stinger with centipede main hall, I’m still getting the poison effect and damage boost from centipede hall, I also proc the centipede ultimate invoke from the 5-piece purple set, so it’s at least partially working despite the tooltip being wrong.

When you equip Loyalty’s Mantle and select the Eagle form for both the main and sub-halls, you will find that the Eagle form’s stinger does not provide the intended reduction in resource consumption or cooldown time—this applies to all skill variants as well. This issue has persisted since April 28th, yet it remains unfixed, and there has been no word or action from Blizzard; it seems they are simply choosing to ignore it.

i have the same issue with Rock Splitter Inner Ferocity upgrade.

I have the Harmony of Ebewaka Unique Helmet.
i have Gorilla as Primary spirit hall and Eagle as 2nd, Rock Splitter has the Inner Ferocity upgrade, which makes the skill a Jaguar Skill, so now the skill is a Jaguar and Eagle Skill, but it is missing the Gorilla tag, very annoying, and potentially missing out on alot of damage and build crafting.

it does not matter whether i equip Harmony of Ebewaka or not, the Gorilla Tag for Rock Splitter is gone.

any potential fix for this from the devs anytime soon ?

Yea complete radio silence, this should be fixed as it kills alot of cool loyalty mantle ideas (esp we got a mythic version now, that is basically useless).
