Anyone using “high quality” Open back headphones ? have a few serious questions about sound regarding D4
Set your sound blaster to use IRQ 7 and DMA 1
I use sennheiser HD700’s, if that counts as high quality.
I am having trouble hearing those around me when they perform attack moves…it sounds muffled unlike in previous diablo series i can hear them as clear as my own attack moves.
I’ve noticed this too. I believe the game is using some kind of ducking, to lower certain sounds in the mix to prioritize others.
It sucks if this is intended.
The world sounds lonely currently
hows the soundstage and imaging in this game ? is it worth ?
i just ordered a set of Closed back Audeze Maxwells and still got about a month to wait for new batch…
but anyway… i know its closed back but i also know the imaging is on the highest quality still…
i just wanted to know about diablo type games is it makes a bigg difference of if it dosnt compared to vast open world games.
d4 is one of the few games (that i like) which bothers to support spatial audio, so dolby atmos windows store purchase actually helps. Random info:
-
Turn the music down to 75% or lower. Specifically in the grind content, its too oppressive and combined with the super weak purpose of grinding to me anyway makes the experience simply raw negative. Lower music helps.

If you use dolby atmos with good heaphones, imo the best setting is to make a custom profile, completely flat eq (to let your headphones do the work) and turn on surround virtualizer. The fancy looking presets all apply some hidden undescribed eq even on flat, and if that happens to not work well with your headphones, it sounds worse.

The audio in d4 is nothing amazing, but with system default / studio reference / dolby atmos checks out as good.
