Solo vs party grinding extremely unbalanced

Them being an online game is not relevant to how people actually played it and why (until D3 anyway).
More ppl had no internet or didn’t care about battle net.

The game series was designed to be dark horror (which loses something when it’s 8 ppl roflstopming Baal runs - which is what multiplayer was). Trade is (or can be) independent from how you do content.

The jumble of words means that ppl that want multiplayer garbage and get their fun from doing things with friends should just go have fun with their friends and not give reasons to companies (which want you and yours friends to keep playing longer) to develop lazy content. That’s where that road leads (in this games case, there are some rare exceptions).

When I saw MrLlama saying he found D4 more fun in groups (and he’s something of a ‘hater’) and I got instantly scared they will ruin it by leaning into that nonsense.

The players are the content means less actual content is basically my point.

Building content for multiplayer and 62.5% playerbase on consoles and in a game meant to attract the casual dad (which is sadly what D4 is and will always be) WILL NOT lead to GOOD co-op CONTENT it leads to how Avarice fight is right now (AND in the small instances where it will it’s going to be elitist bs where it becomes about organizing groups to raid Brelshaza and if one guy fails you all fail - you can like that…but you won’t get a lot of that in D4 even if they go in that direction).

Personally I hope that never happens (not in that way). You can have amazing solo fights like I keep hearing POE has. Then they are free to adjust them for multiplayer…because I would love to solo Valtan (I mean similar) in D4. Lilith is currently that.

Lilith with 2 players (probably, I assume) right now is already utlra trash and trivializes mechanics FOR ONE of the 2 players who doesn’t have avoid half of her attacks when you duo it. That makes it worse content. That’s where we agree…but I want my soloable amazing Valtan/Lilith fight…you want FF14 raid bosses (and you won’t get that because of the casual gamer dad target demographic) where one moron will waste 2h of your life and you have to spend hours socializing and organizing.

Which goes back to the “dark and horror atmosphere Diablo series is not where that hardcore raid grouping for amazing multiplayer designed fights needs to happen”.

Your point is that group play sucks as it is because it’s too easy?! That’s what proves OP’s point that then it should not be rewarded 4 times over what solo ppl get out of it (which is no risk since infinite ress in NM dungeons, no mechanics for most ppl vs uber bosses, 5 times the xp, incense, perma cc on mobs so no CC chain stuns).

That you want them to design Brelsahza in D4 which you can’t solo is a separate-ish talk about what you (and I ) want from the game.

EDIT:

I want them to design a great (solo, but this bit is not really that relevant) game (that can also be adjusted for multiplayer - which it’s not right now) AND I worry ppl that want what you want will give them an excuse to design a reason to socialize (which is what the current ultra rewards for co-op are for), which rarely makes for a better game.
Sometimes, and only for the socialization loving ppl (this is what Blizzard and myself would have a problem with), it makes for a slightly better experience…but still usually a worse game.

Even if that’s what you’re hoping for, the reason to socialize being a good one (as in good co-op fights), for D4 the chances are probably zero due to how they want to please everyone AND because I think most games trying to do both have failed at it.

I don’t know what games you think were better that solo players ruined…since it’s usually been the other way around. They usually go “oh they’ll have fun with their friends so the same small patch lasts them longer and are less likely to quit because they stay for socializing so we can do less content updates that take less work too” (which, surprise, D4 is already leaning into unless the seasons are the best experience anyone ever had with seasonal content and they won’t be…you can already see the signs…with the "seasonal quest lines only take 1h to get to and 1-3h to finish).
