So double the chance of horrible odds are still horrible odds!

Statistically it’s already guaranteed. Make enough runs you get one. And once again, they will be no less rare because I am suggesting leaving the average number of runs to get one stay the same.

Well okay, there might be more in the game because less people will quit out of frustration.

Then there should be no reason to change it, right?

So why change it?

So then there is no reason to change it, right?

If this is your reasoning, it doesnt make much sense. No offense intended.

The reason to change it is so you don’t have people going 200+ runs without getting one when the average is 50 runs to get one.

If you keep whining really hard maybe they will double it again. Really really hard

So you just want everyone to be guaranteed to get it. Its not making sense.

Umm ok

Well, we have more than nothing here, and some people do think it’s too much.

Twice of too much, is way too much?

In this sense, Blizzard can do no wrong with this because the population is split across I want it now and easy vs I want a controlled prolonged loot find.

Now and easy? More like a reasonable chance at it before the season ends without having to treat it like a 2nd job. Makes me laugh to read about people doing 2-3k Duriel runs. If you do that many and you’re not buying mats, how long does it take to grind all that?

250+ runs and still not a single uber… I gave up havent played in weeks now … PoE is far superior in every way.

Just vote with your play time people. They see the stats and will react accordingly. No point arguing with trolls and white knights on the forums. Half the regular posters just constantly post counter positions as a forum of entertainment because they aren’t actually playing the game they claim to love.

I don’t think this was designed to be accessible in that way.

I understand your point, but I don’t think the uber uniques were supposed to be part of the general pool of equipment you are “supposed” to have by the end of each season.

You might, but I don’t.

Let’s try it this way. I threw together a quick program to come up with some actual numbers to illustrate it for you. Ran each till 1 million drops, counting how many runs to get each uber.

Run 1 - 2% chance to get an uber.

Total attempts - 49.93 million
Longest number of runs before a drop - 699
Total drops on first run - 20074
Total drops on 10 or less runs - 183,500
Total drops on 200+ runs - 17,857
Total drops on 400+ runs - 317
Total drops on 500+ runs - 43
Total drops on 600+ runs - 10

Run 2 - .4% chance to get an uber increasing .05% after each failure (I just picked some numbers to get the 1 in 50 average)

Total attempts - 49.89 million
Longest number of runs before a drop - 212
Total drops on first run - 3993
Total drops on 10 or less runs - 58,236
Total drops on 200+ runs - 18
Total drops on 400+ runs - 0
Total drops on 500+ runs - 0
Total drops on 600+ runs - 0

This hardly guarantees everyone gets one. What it does is stops the the silliness of going 699 runs without a drop. The number of runs before a drop is still quite random.

That’s my take on it. I’m not sure if play time is even a metric for them, since we’ve already purchased the game. Since I’m not into cosmetics and won’t drop money in the shop do they actually care if I play or not? As it stands now, the game is practically over still in the mid 80s, that’s when a person with a reasonable amount of play time stops seeing any sort of consistent upgrades. Get to 100 and the game is really over other than whisper and helltide farming for mats to do 45 second Duriel runs.

Reduce farming time (it’s boring AF), increase the challenge, and make challenge more rewarding. I’ve done about 300 Duriel runs… got the Harlequin and that’s it. The only content left is AoZ but the only reward there forces me to redo my paragon board (not happening) and is only useful … yup, in AoZ because I don’t need more damage in the rest of the game.

There are some things that I generally don’t consider part of the normal game loop and end game.

Lillith is one.
Uber uniques are another.

Duriel loop for me is about getting good rare uniques - not the ubers. When they make the drop rate high, it then psychologically changes what they are and expectations change.

Blizzard has done us no favors by increasing the drop rates. Now we are in this nether realm where it so common that people basically think they should be getting them over time.

Farming uber uniques is in place for perpetual play. If you’ve completed your character, the uber uniques are meant for the long term grind fest - IMHO.

Now with regards to your general design issues with games having less grind, I understand that but at the perpetual end - it is grinding.

I am absolutely fine if they increase the drop rates - IF they implement a great SKIN loot chase instead that people will perpetually grind for.

Rainbow wings from whimsydale in D3 is probably a good example.

Now that I’ve finally obtained a few, I think the problem is somewhat adjacent. They are not really ‘uber’. I think only Shako falls into that category, and the rest aren’t really better than frankly Tibault’s. In fact in almost all cases I’d take Tibault’s over the rest of the ubers first.

How many Starless and Andy’s are left in the stash unused? I bet many. The drop rates of those items shouldn’t have ever been that rare and Shako probably should have stayed at the original duriel drop rate.

even the double drop rate is pretty depressing. if you buy two powerball tickets instead of one, you still aren’t going to win anything. maybe give us free summons instead?
