Snapshotting in D4

Am I the only one who hates Snapshot? Every freaking build I’ve played this season requires to snapshot if you want to clear higher levels of the pit . Who came up with these gimmicky mechanics?

PS And yes, I know how to snapshop my different builds, but it’s still gimmicky and stupid. Just saying.

Seems like buggy interactions they simply can’t be bothered to fix, so eventually it moves to the “feature” category.

Well, at least they can make it more entertaining. Like when you go into the Pit, you lay a curse down, jump up and down twice and then do the Hokey Pokey. You know, you put your right foot in, you put your left foot out and then kill them all around. :dancing_women:

Edit: spelling

It’s far from the first game with snapshot mechanics, however because of the way it “works” it is by far the most annoying.

Snapshots Of Hatred (( :see_no_evil: ))

No, there’s been a few on here advocating their hate for such a mechanic. Assuming you mean the buggy snapshotting, and not the legitimate snapshotting. As these are two completely separate things.

I don’t have a problem with legitimate snapshotting myself, technically I don’t have a problem with bugged either, I just choose not to do it because I’m not aiming for 100+ pits myself. We can only hope they take out the bugs, and leave the legitimate snapshotting where it’s at.

I don’t even know what “snapshotting” is, much less how to do it :joy:

it was due to how the D4 programmers/game handled (or messed up) scope, lifetime, session, and other definitions.

it became so predictable that the smarter eastern asian gamers/developers could easily guess and foresee the exploit. :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

It’s a way to get some powerful effect to last longer than the initial cast.

Typical usage is some effect grants something like “overpower” and instead of lasting for one hit it gets applied continually until a channeled skill or ultimate ends.

take a look.

Very bad bug by HEIR OF PERDITION, magnificantly reducing game experience and balance

But beware… what haz been seen cannot be unseen :see_no_evil:.

In all fairness, the biggest snapshot is from the Witch Power, and nobody “came up with it”. It just occurs due to a programming bug. Anyone paying the least bit of attention to their buffs sees it quite clearly.

“Huh, I wonder why my buff us giving me 64% main stat instead of reducing… and why is it only in Pit???”:thinking::thinking:

And then it’s REALLY easy to see it’s only counting the first skill usage. From there, a player simply says… let me maximize that first usage by rounding up 64 mobs then using my skill!

It’s not some evil nefarious plot using some esoteric methodology like dancing around a pentagram while having your inventory open holding down CTL+Shift.

Don’t be mad cause my Cata Snap shotting druid can do over 90 Billion Per Lightning bolt, clearing enemies on screen and Off screen FOREVER and EVER and EVEr and EVer and Ever and ever…

I feel like a Suped up Gawed compared to the others!
laughs evily

But the dev’s are aware of this and it’ll be fixed season 8, so fear not.

Snapshotting is another thing I think they want to go but have no idea how to fix it. Ultimates paid the price as they nerfed them into the ground to pay for ultimates snapshotting sins.

It should not even be a question. Snapshotting as referenced is absolutely exploiting broken game mechanics. This should be fixed. Duping should not exist. Broken interactions and Skills should not be a thing.

This is the bare minimum.

I used to be addicted to the Hokey pokey…

…but I turned myself around.

Blizz: Makes multiple class builds only able to clear the highest S7 game content using snapshotting.

Pretty sure the big 4 classes in S7 (Druid, Rogue, Necro, Barb) can all clear 150 w/out snapshots. I’ve cleared 138 without it (because I speed clear it), and have pushed to 144 with taking the time to snapshot the Witch Power. I have zero Mythics equipped. Pretty sure when I get a Perdition, 150 will be down. A 2 or 3 GA Perdition and a GA Shroud of Death? 150 easy peasy, no snapshots required.

Things couldn’t possibly get any worse…

Blizzard:Hold friend! Give me a chance to up that ante!!!
