Yeah I just died instantly even though i had a potion active… Unknown Killer is quite scary …
Lost my hardcore Druid this morning to Unknown while in seasonal construct area/Whisper favors area! I would really appreciate if someone can investigate this problem and recover my character, if possible, Please and thank you. Scottchastin@yahoo.com
It still happens. I just lost lvl 89 necro by this “unknown killer”

Just happened to me in HC 240 Spiritborn. Unknown killer…….
Slain by unknown killer is Blizzards diplomatic way to say: “Gz, you have killed yourself”.
Mostly by an explosion or other environmental stuff. The death message doesn’t recognize it, when you haven’t been slain directly by an enemy, so it only says: “unknown killer”.
That doesn’t explain the deaths when not fighting. Just standing there and death……makes playing HC pointless.
Lots of things can trigger the explosive things (barrels, those spirits…) without realfighting (Scourge AoE from SB for example or your merc). But your death definetely hasn’t come from nowhere or by a bug. Otherwise much more people would die that way.
I am a hero for making it to lvl 32 in HC. Blizz hates HC
I am going to make a suggestion based on my experience from DI … Do not run. You must inch your way towards enemies and lure them away from bosses. All that means in DIV… is that you can spend the next 10 years trying to finish the game… Or is there a final quest? I doubt it. BUTTTTT… It beats watching the news
