These enemies need a nerf of some kind. Damage and range are insane.
I studied video game design at University for a year and a half, and one of the silly things they taught was to not let ranged NPCs hit the player from off screen until the player has had a few seconds to realize that they’re being sniped. I always thought that was kind of silly, but this one enemy has completely recontextualized that for me. Getting one-shot (literally killed in a single hit from full health) through a fresh cast of Ice Armor (playing as a Sorc) by an enemy that is so far away that it hasn’t had any chance to make its presence visually known to the player feels as cheep as can be. It isn’t fun. Either reduce the range from which these things can attack so that we can SEE them first, or make it so their first 1-2 shots are hardcoded to miss.
Or keep the above behavior the same and cut the damage by like 60%. Tap me for 95% of my HP to get my attention? Fine. But please, stop one-shotting me from off-screen through my defensives. That is not a fun game experience.

I think the longer the range, the less damage it should do. If they are shooting off screen, should do 25% damage. The closer you are, the more it does. Even make it to where melee range does 150% damage.
Not a fun experience is the theme they went with for the whole game.
“welcome to hell.”
It’s not fun at all during a helltide event when I’m dealing with a cc mob and its plucking away at me off screen.
I known this has been said I F in tried of getting one shotted off screen by those f@#$ $#$ @#@ $$##@$@ #!$ !@# $#@! skeleton Bows I die more by them than any other thing out there Yes I am on soft core. I tried of DV bowing to those youtuders bring in the money for them and the common player get screwed. What would happen if all us common players just stop playing STOP THE OFF SCREEN ONE SHOTS NOW
Bumping because this is still a problem.
Just got killed by one of these who was unironically 1.5-2.0 full screen distances away from the action. When I returned to where I died, there were literally 2 full, undisturbed packs of trash between where I had died and where he was sniping from. It’s a complete joke how these things are able to see and attack with full power from such a great distance.
I am specced hard into DR and have some DR from Distant Targets to boot. If I was still on my squishy sorceress, I could understand a little bit getting one-shot by these. But with this new seasonal character that has intentionally specced for a significant degree of survivability, there is no longer a question: this particular enemy is overtuned to an absolutely shameful degree.
Does Blizzard even have a Q&A department at this point? I don’t understand how these sorts of things just exist in the game and yet it’s past release date.
For the last time: being one-tapped from off-screen with no warning is not a fun player experience for PVE content. These either need a massive damage nerf or they need to telegraph their existence to the player somehow (audio cues perhaps). And no, saying “there are skeletons around; you should expect them” doesn’t work; there are regularly random Skeleton Corpse Bows in the middle of non-Skeleton-based Nightmare dungeons at the Nightmare 80-100 level.
