In the official S11 patch notes, shields are being buffed so that they can now drop with offensive aspects and affixes. Lol, why all the love for NECROs all of a sudden?

Barbs will be able to grab Necros and use them as shields. Have I broken the code?

This could also allow for Throw Barbs to make a return 
As for more traditional shields, make all classes able to use them.

Maybe they’ll announce that every class can equip a shield, like it should have from the beginning.

That could be because Paladins also use shields… one more clue they are coming in S11.

It’s probably just the devs throwing necros a bone.
If the level of challenge and difficulty really is rising significantly in S11, Necros (slow and limited mobility) will be especially vulnerable to attacks they can’t avoid, where other classes easily can.
I see this as making shields a bit more viable, and less of a binary, one-dimensional choice. If previously it was a more straightforward Offensive vs Defensive equation for the offhand slot, now, if you really do need a shield to help you survive, you can at least tweak it to so that you’re not sacrificing too much offensive power; you can balance the equation a bit better.
Seems like a good change on paper.

Yes, I strongly agree with this, it makes me sad that other classes can’t use shields, and, it also makes me sad how very few nice shields there are in the game (visually). They release new looks very, very rarely.
Yeah, paladin will obviously be a shield-using class, whenever it gets added, so its addition to the game would potentially force Blizzard to reconsider shield balance. Not sure that means were getting paladins in S11, though. We’ll see.
