See What Was Revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live

With how this season has gone with only a few weeks into it and dozens of fixes, a nerf to fix server issues that only seemed to get worse, Mothers Cache broken, Gauntlet disabled, Trading disabled, duping still happening, too many items still in game that are not supposed to and plans to segregate Trade chat by world tier…. Excuse me if I’m more concerned for the expansion than excited atm.

Imo anyone that pre ordered after the release d4 had you should have no reason to complain, you knew what you were buying lol, if you didn’t congratulations your one of the smart people

Blizzard is a pro at raising the bar only to drop it, it seems. I was happy with the direction the S4 PTR was showing and really had a good time with S4, so I jumped on the expansion.
But to be fair, Diablo is one of my fave series so I would have bought it anyway.
I still have gotten hundreds upon hundreds of hours of fun… and frustration from this game so I feel I’ve gotten my monies worth.
But this season is like a Masterclass of fails.

If it’s actually good I’ll buy it for sure, but after spending $120 on release and getting what we got im extremely skeptical and will wait for real gameplay that isn’t maxed at lvl 30, exact same way they fooled us on release

The game is like an endless meme of horrible decisions and bugs.

Allegedly, they’re revamping character progression in season 6. I’m super curious to see what kind of stupid decisions they’re going to bring this time. Just pick the worst idea you have in mind; they’ll probably going to top it off :joy:

Re-Tempering scrolls only in CO-OP dungeon? Can you make soloing even more imposible? Last time I was this disapointed is when they nerfed minons pre-launch.

Bro, it’s Blizzard. You’ll probably see those scrolls dropping everywhere within a season or two.

I don’t care, just don’t gate anything.

They won’t lol The only gated thing in the game is boss farming. These tempering scrolls will be dropping like candy in season 7.

Instantly lvl to 100 with a full gear pack. Announcing our new head of diablo development, Jay Wilson. As part of our corroboration between our games, vulpera, warlock imps and draenaei are the new mercs. We wanted players to get around better, announcing dragon riding and flying mounts. Diablo is coming in season 6! Download our companion app on your smart phone in order to fight Diablo as a mobile challenge (Xbox game pass required).

I don’t know, my mind can wonder into some very dark places after seeing d4 and immortal.

I mean, if the game is fun right now, the expansion is still going to have roughly the same item system, the same activities, and the additions of Spiritborn, Mercs, Kurast undercity, and the raids. Even if Spiritborn is worse than Druid and you hate Mercs and raids, the new area and campaign will probably be fun and then the rest of the game will be roughly what it is now, right?

Sure, they could horribly screw up the progression overhaul and it could make the game way worse. On the other hand, they are saying that the progression overhaul is akin to what they did for loot in S4, and that went pretty well.

That is the issue. It isn’t going to change.

Yea that’s my issue I’m not willing to pay more money if it stays what it is now, I was done with this season in literally 3 days lol. Imo if it doesn’t change progression wise, there are plenty of upcoming games I’m looking forward to. Just bought wukong and I’m stoked to try it

Seems unlikely that any expansion would fundamentally change the game, though. I suppose the stat squish and progression reborn stuff has a small chance of being something bigger than we got with LoD or RoS, but I think it’s probably just going to be more like the RoS change: torment levels to let you customize difficulty, simplified paragon boards with separate paragon leveling, one new skill per class with a few extra passives, a few new paragon boards and glyphs with niche application. At least armor will cap at 1000 instead of 9320

They have fundamentally changed the game thru seasons lol, started off leveling and paragons took a minute at least and kinda mattered it was never to slow but now it’s insanely fast and nothing matters. They made the end game about tempering items which brick more often then not and it just doesn’t feel good to me, at least they are adding the scrolls it’s a start I guess but the rolls feel very weighted like the math is off or something and no mention about that

I think people’s perceptions of randomness are just very bad. So the system is always going to have the problem that people don’t understand how probabilities for streaks actually work. Like, the probability of seeing the same affix 5 times in a row from a book of 4 seems like it’s just (1/4)^5 = 1/1024. But since there are presumably 3 affixes you don’t care about, there are really 3 ways to do this, not 1, so it’s 3 times as likely. If you actually roll the book 6 times instead of 5, that 1.5x’s the odds again (there are 6x ways to get a streak of at least 5 of a single affix in 6 trials, but adding 1 trial only increase the number of total sequences by 4x). So it’s already down to ~1/228. And then if you consider that you are actually going to be annoyed by any time you get the same affix 5 times out of 6, even if a different one you don’t want technically breaks up the streak, that means instead of 6 ways to get it, there are actually 16. So now it’s a 1/85 thing.

Now, 1/85 is still rare. But if you see a 1/85 event and think you saw a 1/1024 event, then you are going to think the system is rigged. Consider the math for 4x in a row with 6 rolls:

  1. Number of possible sequences: 4^6
  2. Number of sequences with first 4 as affix 1: 16
  3. Number of sequences with rolls 2-5 as affix 1: 8 (because if the first roll is the one you want, you won’t keep it and if it is affix 1, then this is case 2)
  4. Number of sequences with rolls 3-6 as affix 1: 4 (same logic)
  5. Total sequences for affix 1: 28
  6. Total sequences for affixes 1-3: 84
  7. Perceived likelihood: (1/4)^4 = 1/256
  8. Actual likelihood: 84/4^6 = ~1/49

So to fix this, they either have to

  1. Make it so easy to get what you want that no one complains about streaks
  2. Somehow mess with the probabilities to make the sequences seem more “random” (but actually make them less random by preferring sequences without streaks).

Forced grouping, i am out, you just lost a player that has played all the Diablo games

I am not interested in a MMO, there are plenty of those out there, i want an ARPG and you just killed it

Sad to see you do this
