If that were true d3 would be deader than a doornail, but its still majorly active, as are the seasons. Latest one is still going. 28 seasons of starting from scratch.
Yes. Just do what every other game does. Copy other games. Have no identity of your own. Everything should be a clone of each other. Stop trying things different.
Then Lost Ark is the perfect game for you my dude. But people love seasons and having fresh starts. You are asking to change something that the core fan base likes. Its okay to step back and say that “Hey maybe this product isnt for me”. Instead of demanding that it changes to your whim.
Because Lost Ark is litterally what you are asking for. That’s Diablo with a focus on the end game. If you do not like it, then maybe its not a good idea.
My point is, the core fan base loves seasons. Why should something the core fan base enjoys be changed because a ton of people couldn’t spend five minutes looking into the thing they were going to spend their money on? It’s not my fault you didn’t know what you were getting yourself into. Why should something I enjoy be taken away for that?
It seems this thread is full of Diablo “experts”. I played D2 ONLY on hardcore for years so please don’t teach me what this game is about.
Let me tell you what I really think:
Many, like really many of you who are now defending so vigorously obvious flaws in the design will be like gone in several months/year, because the game is boring and then when asked “Why aren’t you playing?” you’ll be like - “nah, man, you know I got other things going on, blah blah, new games, blah blah, busy, etc…”. Typical “no responsibility” behavior.
Seasons maybe worked for D2/D3, but this is neither. It is a completely different game model. Not to mention again without having an end game and quite boring. Also stop comparing it with Diablo 2. Isn’t that what you always say to the others in the forum when they try to compare? Or you are just using that argument when it suits you?
You don’t matter. This is the harsh reality. This game was made to make money and to continue making money in future. Nobody makes games for the passion anymore, only for profit. If 10 000, even 15 000 people play Seasons that won’t be enough therefore such small number won’t matter and changes to please them won’t be made at all. If Seasons are not a good model (which they are not) it WILL be changed in future based purely on statistics. Or maybe you think it is otherwise?
They didn’t for D3, and decided to maintenance mode and cut their losses after the first expansion. They could easily do the same here. Blizzard is not one to do things for “pro forma”. They had a business model for the game based on seasons, and that is what they will follow, and if it doesn’t work they are much more likely to lowball maintenance mode it, like they did for D3, or recently to OW, than they are to invest in it to totally change it, imo.
Don’t worry, Magic the Gathering has been dying for 29 years and it’s still going strong. I know it’s not the same but it always seems like if people are not fans the game is dying instead of just moving on to a game or thing that they do enjoy.
