Same, working on Season Tier 5, which has read ALL of the journals as a node to completion.
I’m still at 1/5 and who knows how many there actually are.
Is this the kind of quest that everyone is supposed to be able to finish or is it just for the lucky ones who are able to find the journals in the wardwoven chests?
I have now done 40 nightmare vaults since reaching lvl 80 and I have opened all 3 wardwoven chests in each of those runs. I have not gotten 1 journal entry. I am now lvl 98. I am still at 1/5. Is it a bug or super rare drop? At this rate, I’d have to do like 200 vaults at least. I should add that I’ve done all of the vaults in WT IV. I’m currently running tier 49s.
I just want to know if i should give up because I’d rather move on to boss farming.

no bug, peeps. they drop more often in World Tier 4 Ancestral Vaults, make sure you have at least 20 points before running it (give kulle two pearls), because at the end, you need 15 points left to open all the chests (big chest costs 10, med cost 4, small cost 1). its a low drop rate, so running it on lower levels is worthless. I ran 10 or more on World Tier 3 Vaults with no drops before figuring this out. Ran my first World Tier 4 FROM A VAULT NIGHTMARE SIGIL (don’t just go in vault entrances from the Gatehall) and one dropped. Only run by using the vault sigils! I almost have them all now. no good instructions anywhere online, unfortunately. and they did a piss poor job explaining it. it is very easy to run without getting hit much, if you go slow! I can get to the end with at least 17 points left each time. If you are having a hard time, use 3 or more pearls and build up your points. I’m using a wizard and just porting past the traps. and I don’t bother trying to clear the vault. In the last battle, you need to stand still and not run around, or you will lose all your points, as the last room is filled with traps. there are only a few floor plans, you you can stand still in the middle or off to the side and let everything come to you. Just don’t stand where the traps are. running around and you will lose all the points and not be able to open the chest.
I can confirm that they DO drop from Nightmare Vaults.
I can also confirm that just now, I received my FIRST journal entry drop from one of the 4 chests.
-I’ve completed The seasonal Slayer challenge (including Overcoming Terrors x20 nightmare vaults) previously
-70% through the Seasonal Champion, have gotten the Zoltun’s Treasure node (x50 wardwoven chests), though I know the number is higher.
Other than the story line and maybe one or two to get acquainted with them, my vault runs have been for the most part exclusively Nightmare (working on glyphs 3x lvl 15, and 1 at lvl 10)
So it would appear that the drop rate of the journal entries are WELL below 0.5%
With just the Overcoming Terrors Node of slayer +4 chest now, it put the drop rate at 0.0119… or 1.19%, but it’s assuredly less as I don’t really know what my actual total of nightmare obtained wardwoven chests is.
More often? What is the drop rate for non-nightmare runs?
-as a side note, this run was done with a T35 glyph I believe, and I haven’t done too many T30+ yet. So maybe they start to drop T30+ and the drop rate is higher (or exists) and sub T30 runs the drop rate is 0. Who knows, maybe Bliz fixed it behind our backs without telling us in one of those erroneous updates they do with no patch notes.

Im lvl 92 and have open at least 250 wardwoven chests from nightmare vaults. Still at 1/5.
Broken.
At this point i have completely given up on completing this quest.
Should be a 2nd (the first two) in the gate hall, middle table in the room with your chest/wardrobe. The rest appear to be drops, albeit as I said, a very VERY low drop rate.
I suspect that it is somehow tied to not only T4, but possibly a certain level of sigil (since 30+ sigils are only useable in T4. Who knows, it could also be tied to character level. I got the first drop at lvl 95 and lvl35 sigil.
My character just hit 82 and I finished this already. It’s just random from the chests at the end of the vaults.
Well then there is a huge disparity that is being caused to numerous players not finding them, and then yet others like yourself seem to have horseshoes or favoritism stashed somewhere.
Update:
Just did my 2nd (maybe 3rd) Lvl 35 sigil Nightmare vault.
- all four chests earned in each.
- 1 note dropped in 2 of them
So either I got really really lucky, or the drop rate of nightmare vaults goes way up at lvl 35 sigil and above. I’ve run a couple of lvl33 sigil vaults and got nothing. but I’m pretty sure this was my second 35, and boom.
Edit 2: About to start my first lvl36 vault sigil on T4, lets see what happens…

So end result
84++ wardwoven (across 21 or more runs) chests earned in T4, from lvl33 and below sigils = 0 notes
16 wardwoven chests from 4 runs (there might be a 5th run/20 chests) earned in T4, from lvl35 and lvl 36 sigils = 3 notes

As DukeNukem said, the first 2 are free and you don’t even do anything. As soon as I started running only World Tier 4 Ancestral Vaults (tier 21+), they dropped quick. I finished them before finishing the Season Challenge for vault running. I’ve only been running Tier 21-25 Ancestral Vaults. not broken

I have 5x15 glyph via 90+ Vaults and was stuck on 1/5.
After I watched some youtube video I clicked on the second page in Gatehall so now I am at 2/5 either it is bugged or the drop chance is extremely low.

All I can say is that it is a vastly different result than my first seasonal character. All 3 additional notes obtained in T3 and sigil level sub 20 vs T4 and level 33+.
I would read that as fix/patch regardless of if they informed us of it or not.

Supposedly they fixed this in today’s patch, but after 8,493,986 runs still no journals are dropping… classic.

Even after the patch they are still not dropping for me. World Tier 3 running T2 & T3 sacred nightmare sigils.
THIS IS NOT fixed.
I’m on my fourth seasonal character. Same class as one of the others.
Unlike the one I finished this quest without even hitting Torment 4, this one is level 84 and I still only have 2/5 (technically 1/5 as I haven’t bothered to get the other freebie -update: just grabbed it now for posterity).
I’ve run enough vaults to get glyphs to : levels 15, 8, 5, 5, 4. No drops.
Seems hit and miss. Best advise, try another character.

Update: No word of a lie, just got my first drop 2hrs after this post.
My glyphs are now 15, 12, 5, 5, 4,.
The only thing I can deduce from this, is that you MUST pick up the 2nd freebie in the Gate Room before you can expect any other journals to drop.
