Zero thought to anything but making the sale. They do not care what it did to the game. They don’t even see it as a game.
TL;DR:
- seasonal experimentation
- what am I missing exactly? (Undercity farming, apparently)
- averse to funding more slop
I don’t think “dictate when you play” means much… a new season brings a new big patch. That’s an opportunity to experiment.
I think you’re referring to people who invest several dozen hours in the season, whether they’re enjoying it or not. But just in case you mean “show up”… that’s me. How far I get depends entirely on whether the core game is getting more fun. Made it to 60-ish(?) in S6, and probably into the 40s(?) in S7. Close brush with catatonia. Intend to try out S8 on weeks 3-4, after patches.
I’m always on the lookout for what I’m “missing”, just to try to inform myself. I expected it was Runewords and mercs (SB only slightly interests me)… but neither gets any praise in the forum. I read carefully & read between the lines, & it sounds like mercs are an almost-useless sometimes-nuisance, and Runewords are a layer of power but otherwise boring & can be a drag to acquire (in S8 for example). I just aim for builds that rely “less” on Runes.
This season in particular, it seems I’d be missing out on Undercity for decent farming. Noted. It goes into my notes.
Not “too good” to buy the expansion (idk what that means either, it sounds purely rhetorical) I’d just like for the slop to show signs of diminishing over time, so that if/when I do buy the expansion(s), I’m consciously contributing to the “upward trajectory” of this project. I genuinely can’t tell if the leadership is aiming in that direction… wish I could. There’s tons of PR & spin, mealymouthed reps who don’t seem to know what’s going on or why decisions are taken, and a boss who oozes detached cynicism & is openly hostile to quality & to any staffer who pushes for it. https://archive.ph/6GCSH
I don’t have full confidence that he’s not willing to wrap it up with a squishy landing soon after the next expansion (or 2), and that between him & Microsoft there isn’t already a contingency plan in place. I can wait & see what expac 2 is like.
Might be atypical… I collect & keep studying games way past the time I spent in them. Other than that, what I find weird is people giving more money to a company to produce more slop. Does not compute.
Actually D4 stinks and has from the beginning, Remember it was
developed just to sell Ugly, Overpriced Cosmetic MTX not good or
entertaining gameplay, D3 had better and more entertaining gameplay,
The only thing D4 has going for it is better graphics, And everyone
what they say about liking something for it’s appearance don’t they?**
“Shallow and only the teenage groups and the twenty something’s seem to care for how someone looks it’s all about the way they dress and whether they have the right brand of clothing on.”
Couple random follow-ups:
Skipping expansions in D2/D3 meant missing out on obvious, massive additions to the core game - basically a different game entirely. In D4 if I’m missing 10% power in Runes, and more efficient farming in Undercity… that doesn’t hit the same. Possibly (now) the one identifiable boon of Microsoft ownership: they can’t make all major additions to the core game be in expansions, b/c Microsoft won’t include them in Game Pass.
Second: mere months after their revealing interview with Rod, Polygon had its staff fired & was sold to an online mill that already has gaming publications. Commence the conspiracies.

Yes it does. I am bored of it already. It’s like everything got downgraded. Anyway, bollox to this game. See you next expansion.
I love when 3 tempers in a category could fit your build and the one that doesn’t fit at all rolls like 6 times in a row. RNG my butt
Yellows were only great because legendaries were so rare because of the RMAH.
season 8 is dull and already over.
lovely mentality. ofc legendaries have been rare cause of the RMAH. I mean what possibly else could be the reason… Is there just the slightest chance that blizzard did not wanted to shovel everyone the legendaries down the throat like today.
I guess the mythics on release of D4 have also been so rare cause of the AH…
D4 repeats the mistakes of D3 cause the “Playerbase” is a bunch of crybabies.
Blizz is interested in making money if the people demand a game where everything is served on a silverplate blizz will do exactly that.
I think the bosses from the ladder are better done overall. Especially that they take into consideration player power and make the phases have to be engaged with for a few seconds. Back in D3 I think people didn’t have the stomach for harder content but nowadays things are a bit different. In D3 all the bosses were watered down and made easier after awhile and posed no challenge even on the highest torment which sucked. You have to literally push deep into GR’s to get that challenge again, especially as a group.
If you honestly think that was the reason, and it had nothing to do with the money Blizz was making off the RMAH due to people using it to get legendaries…
Heh.
Then there wouldn’t had been a Gold AH.
I followed the Development of D3 very closely just as i did with D4.
They actualy had very good reasons for an AH outside of the monetisation ofc.
People want to spend Real money on Diablo stuff. They know that cause that is what they did in D2. Just that d2 had no “safe” enviroment to do so. People got cheated a lot. So they made the AH as a way to earn money ofc but also to let those people who do want to spend real money for items have a safe enviroment where they can be sure to get the stuff they pay real money for.
In my book it was a win win for those who want to spend money and blizz to earn it. I for myself did not use the Rmah nor the Gold AH except for selling stuff to get gold for the insanly expensive gme upgrade costs. I want to find my items that is the whole point of diablo. I will never understand the people going shortcuts be it trading or buying in a shop. Defeats the purpose of a looter.
