PTR updates usually don’t represent the final product, but it looks like Blizzard is doubling down on Ultimate skills. They’ve buffed Rain of Arrows, Shadow Clone, and No Witnesses across the board. While there’s a lot of number tweaking going on, we learned from the mid-season patch that raw numbers don’t always translate to success in the pits.
What are your thoughts on the buffs for Season 7? Personally, I haven’t tried a Rain of Arrows build this season, but I think it’s one of the coolest Rogue skills. Shadow Clone is looking promising too. Since I don’t have access to the PTR, I’m counting on you guys to test Rogue builds thoroughly and share valuable feedback with Blizzard. Let’s go, Rogue!
Well, it was fun while it lasted. At least for speed farming. I still enjoy listening to a podcast and destroying Infernal Hordes with my Dance Of Knives build. I even found a GA Frigid Finesse amulet which helped me clear Pit level 88. Wow.
I’m really excited about the Shadow Clone builds! I always think about my rogue chars as ninjas anyway.
I’m happy for the buffs for Rain of Arrows enjoyers. I watch DiEoxidE’s stream quite often while playing. I just personally don’t like the Rain of Arrows optics all the time on my screen.
I’m simply quitting after this season. Constantly switching skill damage around while the game essentially remains the same reskinned “run extremely limited content over and over and over again for an infinitesimal chance of reward” just isn’t doing it for me anymore.
For the record, thousands of hours on Rogue over six seasons and never wanted to play either RoA or Shadow Clone. I’d prefer that Blizzard leave the spells to Sorc.
Is that what they meant? I was trying to convince myself it wasn’t. I’ve said it before—Blizzard seems to have a grudge against M1PY. All his builds get massively nerfed in the following season.
Thinking about making a video later today or tomorrow just to highlight changes in the PTR notes etc. but it is looking hella strong, and I’ve been doing decently with it even now.
And that’s not even factoring in the Witchcraft stuff.
I’m also a HUGE fan of the Rain of Arrows changes dear god finally. I am however a little sad that they changed Grasp of Shadows so they the Shadow Clones won’t be able to self-proc, but oh well.
With the armory feature, I plan to try out multiple builds next season. Right now, I’m using DoK on HC to level. If those patch notes mean what I think they do, DoK will end up being just a leveling build. Too bad—it was fun while it lasted. Blizzard really needs to stop making “builds of the season” and let us enjoy the same build for more than one season.
That said, I’m also a HUGE fan of Rain of Arrows. In my opinion, RoA and Twisting Blades are the Rogue’s coolest skills. But it seems like Blizzard wants us to go ranged next season and stack damage to distant enemies . So, I will have to use Rapid Fire, Barrage or Pen Shot.
The biggest thing I’m unsure of is whether or not to keep Flurry and the Ring of Starless Skies - which is basically required for it to work, and a fairly high bar of entry. A lot of the aspects I wanted to use but didn’t this season (corruption especially) are getting massively buffed.
Actually, if I swap out Flickerstep for the new boots, that probably means I HAVE to keep Flurry… Hmm then Again, I also have a number of offensive aspects that I threw on just to use up the slot so maybe I can change those. Got a lot of theory crafting to do but I am confident the build will be S tier at a minimum.
Again, requiring the RoSS is a big problem and means I have to also mention the version I ran prior to finding it
S-tier builds definitely have a high bar of entry since the expansion. It’s not just about the right masterwork—you also need the perfect Greater Affixes on your gear.
It’s hard to imagine how the newly revealed powers will work, but it looks like Rogues will have an easier time clear Pit 100, which I’m really excited about. Too bad we have to wait until the second half of January to dive into the new season!
