You are trying to justify indestructible with worse things. Nobody wants permanently gone items from repair. This is not a liked thing. Its hated and would never happen. 10000 posts a day on this if they did it. Game wud die in one day.
The solution is remove indestructible or add another bonus like also 20% to all stats on item with indestructible part.
currently no negatives exsist for diablo for dieing… no exp loss, no skill points lost, no progress resets, no items breaking (that isnt solved with about 1 monster pack of gold)… and to need to repair only after 10 deaths is also silly… like have you ever had to use one of those “portiable anvils scrolls” from the raid dungeon ??? never for me…
dont make the game harder “more doom and gloom” effects, more harder monsters, then have zero risk for dieing to them. diablo fanbase isnt 8 year olds who whine about not winning in micky mouse clubhouse
and it can brick it - as it might remove an affix! Imagine, you’ve got the perfect item, you tempered it, masterworked it - then on this last step the key affix is removed!
Wait there is a replace affix chance? I deleted post cause I thought I goofed. If This is true this system is looking like more brick chances. You get item with GA cooldown u have to have and it gets replaced by random sanctified thingie???
In A-RPGs, probably not. Other genres have.
Anyway, items should not permanently break in an A-RPG imo. Outside of HC of course, but that is the character who breaks, rather than the items
Albeit, if an A-RPG dev was serious about trading, and some of them pretend to be, permanent item destruction is the only way to make a healthy economy. You cant have a functional economy with unlimited supply and limited demand.
I definitely agree SC needs some real death penalty/survival bonus system. Combat feels to unimpactful, since nothing matters.
Item loss is not a good one though. That belongs to HC imo.
Do what some other A-RPGs have done; as you survive battles, you build up a survival bonus, which gives you increased magic find and such; in D4 it could be better chances to get GA items I guess. If you die, the bonus resets.
The loss then happens from ‘future gains’, rather than ‘past gains’, which prevents trapping people in a death spiral.
Yet another reason this change from sanctification has to go. Its worthless on season as a way of us just stating how bad it is as you do save gold but its literally worthless on hardcore because if your item lost durability you dead!
