S7 PTR - Starfall Coronet

There are some changes coming to Sorc in S7 that make a meteor build slightly more viable. I am good with it not being the best in T4.

I managed to get my meteor charge CD to 1.1 seconds (from a 3sec roll). With a sword, I still attack faster than my CD recharges. Ice Blades Remedies this along with Subo’s Explosive Charge + Thrillseeker

The roll on the helm for the CD is too wide. A viable build cant even start with the Starfall Coronet unless it rolls 4 seconds or less. There is no reason to have it designed to roll higher that 5 seconds. I can’t think of any other item that is basically unusable because of a low roll… Maybe the Mutilator plate for Necros (that should be fixed too).
This gap makes rolling for one with a GA especially aggravating. Even if the GA wasnt on an affix I wanted, having the extra 4 masterworking space is unviable if the roll on the helm wasnt around 3.3 seconds or less.

The survivability is really good, nothing to address.

Currently, and in the PTR, Inferno makes Pyromancy skills cost no mana. This effect has no synergy with Starfall Coronet. It should be that Core and Basic Pyromancy Skills are free to use.

In PTR/S7 Aspect of Armageddon will increase damage of Meteorites during Inferno. I truly do not know if the 300% damage increase will be enough. It is appreciated and a step in the right direction though.

Starfall Coronet has zero synergies with any mythics. Due to taking the Helm slot, not even Shako can be used. I have talked about moving Starfall to a focus slot in the past but honestly, the CD just needs to be upped on the Starfall helm. I tried to use Doombringer but not being able to run Shattared Stars and Armageddon aspects hurts the build tremendously. Armageddon makes bosses almost insta stun. Because Starfall has no resource cost, we cannot get the multiplicative damage from Ring of Starless Skies.

Ice Blades Enhancement should be based on base CD. It should scale better with CDR since there is cap on how may can spawn anyway (3, I believe).

The TLDR is that on its own, a Meteor build has some viability but it’s access due to rolls on helm is problematic. It just lacks synergies with items, aspects, and glyphs that really scale resulting in lackluster damage but survivability was no issue.

Well tbh Starfall Coronet should gone to Amulet or Ring…

Helm is everytime spotted by the Harlequin or Heir of Perdition now.

They’re a both too powerfull atm and their both doing at big up of power level compare to Starfall Coronet.

Don’t you think it should be the opposite? If it is blocked normally by shako or heir, starfall needs to be this good for meteor you want it and don’t miss the others.

I think an amulet or ring would work too. I used to think that it should be an offhand, but I don’t think so any more. Ring would probably be best.

No but seriously they need to get rid of the charges and cd just do resource cost of meteor reduced by 30-100%.

Let us use Esu and spam them. Game should be fun without limitations on skills. This kiss/curse crap hasn’t worked since day 1. It needs to be removed. Fireball is an example, why normal damage just make it more damage.

Problem to be a offhand => Like BL unique you can’t use a 2H weapon.

For example if Ahavarion is redesigned and become good => You can’t use it.

That’s why an Amulet or Ring is definetly better.

And today there is only 2 ring for sorcerer : Blue Rose and Tal’rasha…

PS : Starfall on Amulet can give some of passive bonus, would be really nice.

Starless works for some builds too…

…but not Starfall Coronet…

Because Meteor don’t benefit “huge bonus” for Starless compare to Ball Lightning or even Blizzard. It’s better to put a aspect on a ring and decent MW on the ring like Pyromancy Critical Strike.

Meteor benefit 10x more about Heir of Perdition than Starfall Coronet designed for Meteor=> Logic of D4?

PS : I tested Meteor with Starfall and Heir at Season 6 => My damage is definetly better with Heir of Perdition… there is no doubt about this.

it should go to Focus or gloves

Gloves is not a bad idea indeed, that will put a Meteor rank on him.

on amulet or rings you just loose a lot of power.

What power would you lose on rings?

AND

What power would you lose on rings that wouldn’t be made up by a mythic helm?

Rings: Tal Rasha and Starless Sky (all builds should use this combination)
Head: Harlequin or Heir of Perdition
Amulets: Ranks to specific passives

Currently Starless Skies can’t be used with Starfall Coronet, so it would butt up next to Tal Rasha alone.

Meteor Build don’t use Starless Sky for a good reason => Heir of Perdition did the job x10 better for Meteor than Starless Sky AND Starfall Coronet combine actually.

Meteor is mainly define around Pyromancy Critical Strike damage and many Aspects. Tal’rasha is the only ring for Sorcerer enough strong because you can stack to +75% and that is more stronger than Starless Sky ring can do with the 50% mythic bonus effect.

Starless Sky is mainly used in build who use Core Skills “Manavore” like Ball Lightning and Blizzard or Ice Shard.

You’re not supposed to have problem with Mana with a Meteor Build.

you do not need star fall to make meteor build.

why not ? Its 50% [ x ] damage increase…

Ring of Starless Skies is triggered by spending primary resource. With Starfall Coronet, Meteor has a cooldown instead of a mana cost, so it both doesn’t trigger the effect, and doesn’t benefit from reduced resource cost.
