I have tested some builds especially on the sorcerer and I have to admit that this is by far the worst season for the sorc after the LoH expansion. The best Sorc build is still firewall but much weaker than last season… please just try to give some buffs to the conjurations. Maybe new aspects or a new paragon board like the Spiriborn. Try to Change the Meta for sorc completely becasue all of the Strong build got completely nerfed and are boring to play.
I have actually been literally distraught over this. I’m Autistic so I can’t (and I have tried) play other classes. I also have an autoimmune condition that directly affects the joints in my hands. This means the current build that works at all (Not really) literally causes me pain to play. I’m really hoping that maybe they could fix the ball lightening build to make it viable. That was not painful for me to play and was a lot of fun. Sometimes I wonder if the devs like kicking the ants nest so to speak, just wo watch the reaction of all of us ants, not realizing that for some of us, there are real consequences that we have to live with. I guess we shall see.
I am legit still waiting for changes to Habacalva’s Cauldron. The 15 stacks I need before I get to Overheating, where things cost no mana, is… AWKWARD.
If you have zero mana regen and zero cost reduction, you can’t actually get to 15 with Meteor or Fireball because their high cost means the stacks fall off before you can cast them again. But I don’t want mana regen or cost reduction because my spells become free.
I really dislike the awkwardness of this set bonus.
need to nerf that stupid Ring of Fire already. it is so stupid that it turns DoT into direct damage, which is play like critical damage. and it is so freaky clunky to play.

i just wish they would make the skills themselves actually stronger.
Weve had conjurations automaticaly fly out to do the damage and now fire wall to buff up other spells.
Just beef up Fireball, Frozen Orb, Meteor etc to do good damage on their own and be competetive with other classes. Try to go on live right now and make a Frozen Orb build the “right way”. Its awful…
People need to stop with the hyperbole. If you are actually distraught then you need help. The reality is you might be slightly annoyed by it or more likely or disappointed.
usually the jokers in the forum will first ask you if sorc could not complete any seasonal journey, then they will flaunt their skill by implying even a Firebolt build could finish T12 Mephisto and enforcing that everyone should follow their set of standards.
lastly they dismissing your complaint that sorc is unbalanced.

Eh. You have 8 other options. Move on.
Yeah I think you missed a critical piece of information in that post, read it again and please try to have some empathy.
Regardless of that, it’s a reasonable request for popular and fun builds to remain viable instead of being dumpstered when they get ‘balanced’ down…
Overperforming builds have to be dropped down a peg, that’s expected, but the aggressive overcorrection is a bit much sometimes.
It would be nice to be in a world where the meta builds get reduced enough that the fly-by-night meta slaves immediately hit eject, but the people who were playing it for other reasons can at least have the option of keeping the flame alive. ![]()
You made me a great favor, my friend.
this season will be skipped as this one.
only abandoning the game will make these devs listen.
Eh. You have 8 other options. Move on.
options that I don’t want and you have no right to demand or suggest
some empathy.
I read it. I had all my fingers severed when I was a teenager. They were able to reattach them but similar to that person some things are just too uncomfortable to play. So I know the feeling and I emphasize with that part. My comment was not about the situation or even if they were correct to not like the changes or not. It was purely on the word choice.
If you look up the definition the example they give is “distraught parents looking for a runaway teenager” which is an appropriate use in that scenario, it’s use for changes in a video game make it hyperbolic. And people are less likely to take exaggeration seriously.
Fair enough, I meant the autistic bit, not everyone is as easily able to deal with things that may be easy for you and I. But whatever, they can fight their own battles, I agree with your take in general that people are hilariously theatrical and reactionary, when they act like minor changes are the end of the world… ![]()
I meant the autistic bit
I know a few people on the spectrum. What I’ve found is they prefer to be treated just like anyone else. So I don’t hold back just because of it.
But whatever, they can fight their own battles,
Exactly this.
Text is also hard to interpret fully. I intended it to be less mean spirited that it probably sounded. That’s on me.

Yeah all good, obviously you’re not an insensitive person, sorry to call you out there!
Have to admit to posting a bunch of stuff that probably sounds meaner than it should be, like you said, it’s not always easy to interpret the true intent.
Tbh I could’ve told you this without any testing. Just read the PTR notes. We got slight buff from int scaling. 27% nerf from our best aspect getting nuked. The new 100% damage increase gem will buff dot builds, so Firewall still the best, Blizzard likely still 2nd. Power level is around the same as this season I’d say. Which is laughable. Maybe with hyper optimization Firewall can do 140ish to 145. Which is ok power level, but every other class will zoom right past speed farming 150s with the new gems and buffs they got.
Next best is likely Static Shock and Ball lightning that can both do around 130 to 135 with optimisations.
Just yeah it’s basically same as last season with the floor of builds that can utilise the no crit gem going up. You can safely skip this next season if Sorc is the only thing you play if they don’t specifically wholescale buff sorc and nerf Firewall in the final notes.
For me I don’t know if I care that much anymore. Seeing how bad the balancing has been, they really have to blow my mind with new seasonal additions for me to buy the next expansion at this point. I’d rather play something that respects my time and is varied and fun to play. Funny thing is that Sorc has so many builds that are all different but none of them do any damage. You’d just better play Warlock next season if you want to play something varied.
Frozen orb sorc video linked. I am just in testing phases. I was messing around with this build on the PTR. I had to socket the same splinter I used in Leoric’s in a ring to get the effects.
Updated, I have the build comfortable now. I am actually leveling a sorcerer from scratch solo self-found. I will have to Mrak the low-level splinters. I want to see how it plays without boosts.
The video is a little long because I do my best to hover over gear, skills, paragon, and mercenaries.

This forum is pretty funny… and just as stupid as always—it’s the same thing after every PTR.
Thanks to the Splinters and other class-wide buffs, the overall damage level in S15 will be raised significantly once again… which probably means even B-tier builds will be able to farm T12 content.
And as always, the only thing a class is judged by is whether it can clear Pit 150. Which represents 1% of the endgame and is pretty pointless.
My class can farm 99% of the endgame in T12? Who cares—it’s useless and dead because I can’t clear Pit 140!
People are limiting themselves and their class choices here to a single small, unimportant aspect of the game, and then they get upset. You can’t even figure that out for yourselves… Blizzard should finally remove the Pit and endless scaling so you can get your heads straight again and maybe start playing the game, and actually have a good time with different classes once more.
Yeah well, problem is that Sorc got nerfed so much that many builds can still barely do T12 with the splinters and perfected gear. Like doing one of the challenge dungeons on T12 +15 takes 30 seconds while other classes one shot that boss.
I know where your argument is coming from though, but Sorc problems are very legit and devs seemingly don’t care at all even though last season was exactly the same. Like sure Firewall is good and seems to be able to do pit 145 in the end, which is more than enough. Just it is our only build that can comfortably do T12 before full mythics and full paragon glyphs etc. And the playstyle is not for everyone.

Which isn’t true, not right now, and certainly not anymore with S15. On the PTR, even with current B-tier builds, pits well over 120-130 have already been cleared in just a few minutes—Ball Lightning, for example.
Even in S14, you can clear 130 pits with Ice Blizzard; if you factor in the Splinters and buffs, it’ll be a walk in the park in S15.
But everyone is still fixated on a completely pointless 140–150 pits… which makes absolutely no sense in the game. T12 is the last meaningful standard, and the Sorc can easily master that in S15 with many builds.
I mean I agree that nobody should be able to do 150, but if you can do 120-130 with perfected gear, then that build is C tier at best with current power level on the PTR. You are missing that Sorc got a massive nerf on the PTR to enhancement master + constellation. So Blizzard for example isn’t all that more powerful than in season 14. The splinters just offset that nerf for the most part.
The problem for me is that there is one singular sorc build that is better than the rest once again. And it’s the same build as last season. I would be totally fine if the normal power level is that every build tops out at 130-135 and then super try hards can do 140. But D4 has not been that game and seemingly isn’t going to be that game any more. For me now a build is balanced if it can grind T12 without problems after getting it together. And frankly there’s only one build that can do that for the Sorc. Yeah a lot of builds can do T12 in the end but it shouldn’t require perfect mythics, glyphs, paragon and gear in general, when other classes can just randomly stroll through the content.
