While I don’t mind the changes to the skill points, I do also understand that once you give players something like that, it’s very hard to take it back without causing an uproar.
I will say the extra points gave you the abandon to do things you probably wouldnt do without the extra points. Always felt OP to start the game and be able to throw a 5/5 fireball at mobs as a sorc or run into mobs as an SB with a fully upgraded crushing hand and know that the barrier will absolutely prevent your death.
It encouraged reckless play. I will miss it, but i wont act like i didnt take on challenges above my level with it
Yea, I’ve never seen any other game let a level 1 character start off that way. Feels like there is a big philosophy change now that Rod Ferguson is gone.
No one cares about reckless play at low levels, it doesn’t matter. Making seasonal start more tedious to 99% of the people is not a good business model. In fact it will likely just encourage more people to start season a week late then login in and beg for boosts.
Now there are 5 capstones to do? You kidding me here Bliz!!!
Why you make me play the game to earn things blizzard, why? Just give me alll !!!
I very much dont want PoE The Trading Tycoon. PoE combat is just as bad as D4s.
I want slow, tactical combat. Meaningful monsters. Sensible power scaling.
Yep. Which is why Blizzard should have been smart enough not to give it in the first place.
But when mistakes are made, rip off the band-aid and let people complain for a while. Soon it will be forgotten.
The entire point is that it SHOULD matter.
Sure seems to be the mindset that has infected D4.
Blizzard need to burn it with fire.
you will probably get this for S11 during leveling stage at least… it seems like that is what they are trying to pull players into, and I am not a fan of it …
But don’t expect this at end game as you grow in power because, once you become the hero / god that you are, expect to wipe screens again as that is the core power fantasy of any ARPG game.
At least the core fantasy of all the current major ones, sadly.
And yeah, I do expect that to happen here too.
wait ? what do you mean current major ones ?
Has it been different before at all ? In which title ? how long ago ?
D1 had less of it. Would be nice if current A-RPG devs would go back and learn more from it.
No Rest for the Wicked, not yet released, was explicitly trying to break the trend as well. Time will tell how that goes.
The current situation both comes from overpowered player characters, but also from too high monster density. Plenty of A-RPGs in the past had more reasonable monster densities, even if they still suffered from the overpowered characters. Sacred is probably one of the bigger examples. Even Diablo 2 has more reasonable monster density in most areas.
I thought this game already released and was so unpopular that no one played it, practically a dead game at this point…
Not released yet, it is still in early access.
sorry my bad, yea it is in EA… but yea, I heard some streamers talking mentioned it before how it is hardcore, and difficult, and unpopular. Like no one is playing it…
They did not “Give” us nothing. We ran around fighting demons off to get that renown. It’s all part of conditioning that we have no control anymore. And from what I’m seeing it’s working.
Hell no. This is boring as f***. There is a good reason why this was removed. No one wants to redo the terrible side missions or flip nocks and cranes to gain renown again.
Yes, the seasonal progression needs to be longer. However, this needs to be done in a meaningful way. Not forcing the players to spend dozens of hours refarming boring content they farmed before.
don’t mind, i can play 30 hours a day.
but too bad for dad gamers who need to squeeze every minute rushing back home to level up for skill points and might leave their baby in the car seat and get the full blast of 8 hours under the sun.
People who want a slow pace in ARPGs are just o.O to me.
Which is terrible - by all means do this for new players so they don’t have to do the renown grind - but players who have completed it already shouldn’t be punished in ongoing seasons. They could for example, flag accounts as legacy accounts where the renown has already been completed and those keep their skill points (i will live with the healing potion changes - though that stinks as well)!
They’re trying to capture the “ARPGs should be hard” crowd from PoE2 which will never work because PoE2 does that better. But in trying to capture that crowd they are alienating the large “casual” crowd Diablo has.
It’s not unlike Games / TV / Movies trying to capture the “woke” “modern” audience which doesn’t really exist, they just alienate the audience which does exist.
