Rushing Claw is very clunky compared to even D3 dash skills

Not sure why in the most recent Diablo game a skill like Rushing Claw (could be other examples I’m unaware of as well) is so flawed. I feel like I never had movement issues with rushing or dashing skills for ANY classes in D3 and there were many with dash-like skills. Now I understand that if you don’t have a teleport-like skill then you’re not going to jump over walls but my character should definitely not be stopped from moving because of pathing issues. One example of many would be in some maps there’s a small staircases that my character can easily walk up/down on but for some reason my Rushing Claw just doesn’t cast most of the time until I walk passed it. Or if there’s a wall nearby and I’m in a tight area the skill just won’t cast where as in D3 all of the similar skills would cast with no problem. They would just dash you as far as you can go or if there’s a narrow doorway it would send you forward in a way where you’re not getting caught or stuck in the door, you will always end up going towards where your cursor is pointed at. I guess I’m a tad bit confused as to why a game like D3 (released in 2012 and a prequel to D4) has much smoother movement and no clunky dash skills at all as far as I’ve experienced across every class that has a similar skill. In my opinion Rushing Claw should not be so buggy/awkward to use to the point where the skill just doesn’t cast and your character doesn’t move because the pathing isn’t allowing you to dash. D3 never had this problem, you always had a smooth dash even in tight spots with tumble on demon hunter which isn’t a teleport skill or the monk dash skill, same with the necro one.

AFAIK, the issue with rushing claw is that it requires a target, which is why it blows so hard. I guess the new eagle variation makes it blow a little less since it doesnt require a target to cast?

I never target. You press shift on pc, press rushing claw into a random direction.

On PC, doesnt shift vary by keybinds lol? Im assuming the default binding for shift is to hold position?

Yeah, you can even set to toggle to hold posiion then there is no need to keep shift pressed.

13 seasons in and i just this season discovered all these buttons at the beginning of this season. What exactly does toggle to hold mean? Like, what do i need to do to a ‘toggle to hold’ keybind to get it keep that function ‘on’? Does that make sense?

Go to settings, control, there is a tag called toggle hold. Assign a button and you’re good to go. Current evade is much butter than the old one. You just cast the seeker from time to time for the wushe nak pa bonus. Counterevade is more annoying in the sense that missiles aren’t homing and you have to press scourge all the time for the balazan x250% poison bonus.

In Season 14, I don’t know if they changed it, but Hold Position (Shift) does not work for me and I can’t cast Rushing Claw. Also, in Controls > Key Bindings there is no toggle for Hold Position.

They changed rushing claw. You need a target now and skill level 30 ravager.
