That’s not really the struggles you’ll face in HC. I don’t remember D3 guides being geared towards pushing HC and gearing for each fight at launch.
Disagree. |If the contest was first of 1000 on softcore then you would be right. But it is not. You can have all the time in the world but that doesn’t mean you will reach 100 before you die.
I am taking off the four days of early access and the first three days during the official release.
You’re not exactly avg then. Out of all of our group that’s playing only one is taking anything off.
I expect the servers to be a mess anyway, so there’s going to be a LOT of HC disconnect deaths in those first weeks.
That’s even barring any ddos attacks
The elixir of cheat death and escape scrolls are what mean you will reach 100 before you die
If you are between 1001 and 1010th and Wudi is ahead of you, you come back and post here and we’ll pool some money and buy you a trophy.
That’s how unlikely it is to matter.
If you’re the type of player to try and push for top 1000 I am assuming you have 2 hands, 2 eyes and all your senses are functioning.
But sure you’re right, the skill floor is not literally in the mariana trench and I exaggerated, you need a modicum of motor skills to complete it.
Yes. Those do exist but they are consumables. Plus why use them on Strongholds or dungeons when you can save them for the capstone dungeon and then Nightmare dungeons?
Even more so, those could be really useful in the Fields of Hatred.
Regardless of what happens with this event.
How out of touch the producer of this game is should be incredibly worrying for not just the people pushing top 1000 but every single person playing this game, or at least people that are planning on playing it for the foreseeable future going into seasons 1, 2 and so on.
I’m not saying they’re not skilled. Just that they’re not S ranked tier.
The competition is 1000 spots. Going back to Diablo 3, that had 6.3 million players, with 5% of them being HC players. If similar numbers are for Diablo 4, that’s still 325k HC players for the launch.
Getting in the top 1000 spots I feel is going to be incredibly difficult. You’re going to have some players who find XP exploits. That’s almost inevitable. And you’re going to have players who account share or run bots, so they’re playing 24/7. Even if you played 24 hour sessions, if it takes 100 hours to reach 100, that gives those players practically a free day compared to even the biggest no-lifer. I’d expect at minimum half the spots to go to cheaters, account sharers, botters. That makes those extra spots even more precious.
And now we’re also talking a time of year when people take off (school, work, etc.) as well. To say that there aren’t going to be at minimum 1000 people in that category I think is wishful thinking.
I just mainly think most people are viewing it as 1000 sounds like a large number, because they’re having a hard time grasping the true scale.
That’s a bit of a stretch. He hasn’t been bad otherwise, everyone has bad takes at times.
If he doesn’t understand how information is a key component in speedrunning…
Man doesn’t even understand video games.
Speed running is a very small small percentage of video games
A LOT of people don’t understand speed running, i’d argue unless you’re part of the community, most don’t.
Hell, watch the devs watch speedruns on youtube, most of them don’t understand it.
I wonder how many of the complainers really think that they will be top 1000.
Why are you pretending something that’s common sense for literally any other subject in the world is somehow an alien concept to someone who’s been on this planet for 50+ years, 30 of which he probably spent in this industry/
Do something once. Bad
Do something many times. Git good.
WOAOWOWO very hard to grasp.
Yes and normally they are not allowed in events.
This “event” is nothing more than a launch pr meme.
Not saying speedrunning isn’t possible on an live service game, but it requires different methods than speedrunning a solo/ singleplayer game. Diablo IV isn’t the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Though much of that is exploits of glitches rather than clever game tactics.
You think like that because you’re in the community.
Most people think speedrunning is just about going as fast as possible, and that they barely play the game.
Think they have a chance? Probably every one that ACTUALLY purchased the game.
How many here crying about it that realistically do stand any chance? 0. Not a single one.
Anyone who is even going to be a competitor isnt worried about this at all.
Clearly people who’ve never had a single job in their entire life.
The very first question from any interviewer is if you’ve ever had previous experience before.
According to Rod and some people here previous experience is irrelevant as we all start “fresh”. An amazing response to give to an interviewer.
