Wait did Blizzard say no to his idea somewhere? Anyone have the post or twitter post somewhere?
They should just stick to the animated movies. They could create a tv series around Diablo instead of running the franchise into the ground. The quality of the animations in cuts scenes is great.
There’s the germ of an interesting idea here, but overall I think it’s too convoluted, & I’ve no interest in collecting “ancient favors.” Still, 2 thumbs up for the idea.
Who’s Rhykker???
Dont watch ryykker. Problem solved.
Oh, i figure it out who he his: Ryker Grimborn | Villains Wiki | Fandom
Isn’t he Counselor Troi’s boy toy?
I agree with most of his ideas, but I think layering another system on top of the broken mess we already have is a mistake. I’m not sure the devs understand their own game, and making it more complicated won’t help that.
Come on. Give credit where credit is due. Guy cooked up a better system that D4 currently has… Also he is not demanding that his idea must be in the game, it’s only a suggestion, a concept. He just presented an idea.
True. They need to fix the base game itself. Too many bugs that reappear every season because of the copy/paste of the base game to the season server. Fix the base first. I would be find with them coming out and saying “We will have the base game fixed in 6 months, please bear with us as we are working to get the bugs out of the original code” Great, then put that massive update out, yeah it will be massive but a 1 time update to all.
You just named the two most normal and down to earth streamers or content creators lol… I mean sure, they’re not Noxious but probably if listening to anyone about D4 it would be those IMO
That’s not a quality but quantity issue (the scaling), tune down DPS and now you outscale stuff no longer ![]()
I mean except the pit which we all know is indeed a quality issue, either way here’s my thought of what he said overall
Why elongate the journey when can make it richer ?
That’s my problem, sounds good on paper but it’s just a justification factor for elongating the game and increasing the time for longer “busy time”, without actually improving the game or gameplay for that matter
Meaning ? - it will still be the same game we play today but with a “tree” selector… I mean, I guess you’ll be able to “see” where you’re going to get screwed earlier ![]()
It’s like making a “forging Tree” out of MW, you’ll still MW one item at a time but the “tree” will let you know the 3% chance of what you’re about to get overall ![]()
Or they are casuals and just play to complete the season journey and not worry about having perfect gear or pushing pit.
Most of it probably comes from their fans, going to reddit or the forums any time one of them farts and damanding the game be changed to what they want.
The twitch community is a very special kind of “”““special””“”.
Streamers make almost all their money at the beginning of a season, with seasonal content previews, build guides, newly discovered “tech,” etc. This system he’s proposing is an end-game system that’s meant to keep people around well after the intial season hype & media blitz has died down. Maybe if you could explain how this is just a dastardly scheme to increase his revenue, I’d be more inclined to not simply dismiss you as a hater.
He’s not wrong, when he points out that PoE 1, PoE 2, and Last Epoch all have meta-progression systems that D4 lacks (besides the battle pass). He’s also not wrong that people leave when the time & effort to reward ratio becomes too askew. The one thing I’d caution against, though, is burning people out. A meta-progression system that has them playing all the time for 90 days straight might cause them to simply skip the next season, due to burnout.
It’s really easy to put the blame on a select few “Streamers” when that might not even be the case to begin with.
I’ve been watching Ryker for Years, and the many things he’s suggested people here who want the game to be better Have suggested.
Sure Streamers make money off of a new game (or new season, sure…that’s their Job), but no one should Ever look past the point where a streamer may just want the game to be better because well, I don’t know…
If they aren’t enjoying the content, their fans aren’t gonna enjoy the content similarly, so it just spirals down to a “not interesting/profitable” game.
We are all (no exceptions) totally depressed about D4 now. At this point it is 1001% save to say: THE END IS NIGH ![]()
We all had hope until the end. But it will be over soon. The last DIV server hamsters are already leaving the wheels.
I don’t understand why they keep recycling the same old seasonal borrowed power. It is so incredibly lazy and uninspired. You expect seasonal power to be something on the side where the season introduces some proper content. Blizzard seems to make the borrowed powers the sole focus of the season when each time they are something you equip and forget about. There is nothing game changing or interesting about the seasonal powers. The powers are also forgettable. I can’t even remember what any of the witch powers did in season 7. The best thing they added so far was the Infernal hordes. I guess that was lightning in a bottle or something because 3 seasons later and we haven’t gotten anything that good.
What is also funny is one of the best additions to the game came from a season where they didn’t have any borrowed powers. Their M.O. so far seems to be tweak the damage numbers back and forth. Buff some random skill and nerf whatever everyone was playing the previous season. Add some forgettable season power, throw in some helltide/whisper/NMD clone and call it a day. It’s surprising they still have jobs when they produce such boredom.
There were his comments that reflected on his agenda for a year at the end of the interview with Brent. Guess that means there’s a smattering of references throughout his content.
Some good points in your post.
I agree. That is one thing I have always loved even back in the 90’s. They have always had top notch graphics in there story sequences in their games. Usually better than just about anyone especially when they first started. Continued to get better as well.
No i didn’t play PoE2. This isn’t healthy though. Games weren’t always meant to be so difficult. PvP games were where you went to show off your skills, and even then, you can still log into PvP games and only play a few matches at a time.
This is a PvE game. PvE games were always going to be time sinks because theres no other way to successfully keep people engaged without an MMR or rank system to climb. Only time.
I prefer Diablo as a time sink, i just want to be able to attain a working build by mid season and be climbing pits/grinding upgrades until the end of the season. Right now, some builds are literally unattainable by the end of the season because of things like tempering and enchanting keeping you from realizing a build. You can’t climb the pit until your build simply functions.
D3 solved this problem via giving you a set of gear right off the bat through the season journey that enabled you to do something functional. You would then grind for the gear you needed for the build you were wanting to truly go. I’m not saying D4 follow the D3 model. I’m saying figure out some way for players to achieve a functional build within a smaller time frame.
