Rhykker Meta-Progession System makes me depressed about D4

Re: topic, the general idea is pretty interesting - certainly an improvement on the status quo. Skip to ~ 7:00 in the video, the preamble just explains what ‘meta-progression’ means and why have it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUzGu3GcUGM

It’s hard to call it too convoluted for couch dads, since the rewards are all straightforward. And as Blueskies notes, it’d be in T4 anyway.

Some highlights and ambiguities:

  • He hints that pinnacle bosses might be attempted ‘early’, as a way to level up the tree, with the risk being ‘failing’ the attempt & possibly resetting the tree (incentivizing more careful progression).
  • Pit bonuses from tree - eg. bonus glyph rolls, which could also overlap with normal power progression.
  • Since the Pit is an activity on the tree, does it mean you can enter the Pit from the tree interface? Pretty good way to make the obelisk obsolete, like the ravens supposedly made the Whisper Tree obsolete. Full circle.
  • Aspect hunt. He didn’t mention this, but an idea: just like plugging in a unique for a higher chance at a clone (I guess for GA’s, although he didn’t specify)… plugging in an Aspect for a chance at a high version of that Aspect makes a lot of sense, & solves the Codex problem without the devs having to divorce Aspects from gear (like I’ve suggested before - which is still a viable workaround). This would prompt players to save valued (but underpowered) Aspects for this purpose.

Forumites complaining about personality cults are themselves obsessed with personalities. It’s projection. That’s all they post 24/7 - their feelings about people. Pointless noise.

Others dismissing the ideas b/c of who is presenting them… I guess that’s a half-step above horse-poop. Horse farts, let’s call it.

Engage with an idea. Tear it apart on its own terms. You have nothing valuable to say on it until then… only noise.
