Returned to Season 4 Experience

When the game launched I got to level 100 to have completed the game and give fair judgement on it. Straight up, this game hasn’t changed. Gearing is still a pain and not straight forward. Leveling STILL takes too long. You go to a helltide and spam the same event over and over with the same abilities, no gear or tier sets to change up your gameplay along the way. This is acceptable gameplay if leveling 1-100 was 40 minutes. But anything more and it’s boring and reptitive. Density isn’t enough if there isn’t going to be kill streaks like Diablo 3. Those kill streaks were a fantastic gameplay incentive to keep going and be active and use abilities and movement to keep it going. It’s a boring slog right now without them.
I went into tempering and thought you got all the stats so I picked one I liked the most and low and behold, it is a random stat at a random %. Sick. Gearing still sucks. Too many stats without knowing which one is strong. I couldn’t even tell if resistances were fixed because everytime I stood in something I got one shot. Boots should not have evade charges or speed boost. You should get more evade charges as you level, along with an increasing speed boost, and cooldown reduction per spell.
The potion should auto level with you instead of having to go to a vendor to upgrade it and spend a crazy amount of gold on it.
Why do we still have to do the class quest? I was playing sorcerer and it really irked me to go into a dungeon that has no density and took 10+ minutes to clear to get a class mechanic that should be baseline.
Also, why do we still have to grind legendary powers and waypoints? If we have all the waypoints give us all the waypoints. It doesn’t matter, it simply makes new characters more annoying. In Diablo 3 we didn’t get all the legendary powers but they were also no where near as much of a pain to acquire. You have to go off and travel to some far off dungeon you’ll never do again to get the worst version of a power.
At least in Diablo 3 you’re ripping content that is giving you progress, power, and powers for alts and what not.
Also, paragon boards are the worst thing they’ve ever come up with. Not fun to respec, not fun to put points in and not worth another 50 levels. Cap should be 50 and then give us uncapped paragon or something else that’s fun and engaging.
Why are there only 4 world tiers still? World tier 2 should be a push over and free extra xp. World tier 3 should be a bit harder to start in but give you 2x the xp or even more. World tier 4 should be 1000% xp and then a world tier 5 at 10000% xp. It’s so slow. I played for 40 minutes and was level 20 or so and it felt like I was playing for 8 hours and was exhausted.
Gameplay is still not great. The horse is still a disaster, have to get off it to climb down a rock, why is there still a cooldown on the horse, and why does it still control so poorly? The only time I enjoyed combat is when I couldn’t see the ground and fire was everywhere which took an hour to get to. One hour of terrible leveling where you have no spells and no power. WHY?!?! One kill at level 1 should get you to level 20, meaningless levels. This game wastes so much of your time, why are there loading screens on good rigs? Makes no sense.
Helltides are not fun, they simply aren’t. The reward of them isn’t enough, the xp and density isn’t enough and the events inside them aren’t interesting at all. It’s the most lazy gameplay ideas. It’s why rifts were so fun in Diablo 3, density and being able to blast through them and feel like you’re being rewarded and it’s fun. Want to level fast in Diablo 3? Go to the ruins and get a big killstreak and blast. Level to cap in like 20 min, super fun and replayable because you’re being pushed by the killstreak system to keep it going and keep the player engaged.
Why doesn’t the pet auto-salvage anything below legendary? Genuinely what is fun about this, mindlessly killing demons over and over is not fun if I am not being pushed skill wise and the time to level and get to any interesting content like greater rifts or boss fights is absolutely insanely slow. This isn’t Doom Eternal where the gameplay is the reward and satisfaction, this is a mindless slog that requires looking up a guide and countless wasted hours on repetitive boring content.
The loop has not changed since launch, it’s still the same thing. Gameplay is a massive issue in this game in comparison to Diablo 3. Skill tree isn’t fun either.
This game still has zero identity and clue of what it wants to be. You start a new character and have ZERO clue what you are working towards. The true goal are the bosses and hopefully an ever improving greater rift system. However, those are 10+ hours off when you start. There’s no goals early on that is interesting and engaging for the player. It revolves around a garbage seasonal mechanic that you have to utilize to level for 10+ hours.
I know some people are enjoying this and saying this season is better. But it’s not, it’s the same game and loop that’s been present since launch. It’s not just a feature and player goal issue, there is a fundamental flaw with combat and movement that does not feel good with this game that is present in Diablo 3.
