Remove random colors from items

I asked for this many times back on D3 forum and I ask again because issue is still being ignored. Random colors on armor pieces are bad mechanic copied from D3 that makes our characters look like clowns. PoE or even Diablo Immortal don’t have that and character looks good without using skins and transmog.

This needs to change as it’s just a bad rpg game design forcing people to use skins like some moba or battle royale. I miss times when you could tell by character look what cool item he equipped.

You’re just talking about the aesthetic color right? The one you can change at the wardrobe for any piece of gear you’re using? Where we have several options to pick between a single color or a mix of colors?

Just making sure I’m reading this correctly. If so, you’re complaining about something you can quite literally fix, for free at the wardrobe.

I mean every rare or legendary drops with random dye attached to it. Everyone that don’t use transmog look bad with every armor piece being different color. I know “solution is already there” but it doesn’t have to be an issue in the first place.

Colors on armor and whether or not it looks good or bad is completely subjective. They aren’t about to go through and change it because it’s an eyesore to someone who doesn’t want to change it at the wardrobe. Good luck changing their minds though.

Well transmog should be an optional feature but by how bad character looks by default it’s pretty much mandatory. I think it’s an issue of rpg design.

I was wondering what the “change this” was going to be today. They have more important things to work on.

I’m not programmer but removing like one line from possible stats on dropped items shouldn’t take long.

Think about it logically for a second. What is the better alternative, change all the colors of the base armor to how one particular player wants it? Or make it so any player can change the color at any given time?

Good luck.

You can change your characters look anywhere right from your screen so this is a non issue. No need to go back to wardrobe.

Just remove that stat that puts random color on item. Make it drop with original look. Yes armor pieces would still not perfectly fit each other but it would look much more natural. No more headpiece being red, chest being blue, pants being yellow etc.

Sure but remember how it was in D3? You needed to apply transmog each time when you changed item. Everyone looked like clown during leveling and until they were fully geared for their build so that is endgame part and a lot of players don’t reach that. You think it’s good rpg design?

But we arent talkin about d3 here. YOU SPECIFICALLY brought up d4. you posted on the d4 forums. so why are you using d3 as an example when it literally has nothing to do with d4…

why keep bringing up d3 when it was changed for d4 to not work the way that you are complaining about?

what am I even reading right now…

Because the same dumb mechanic just got copied over to D4 without giving it any thought. It was actually invented in Diablo 2 to give some unique feel to items but it was 2D game. In 3D this feature is just bad especially when there are more armor pieces.

except…

to which you said

so the mechanic is not an issue since you have access to it anywhere and you specifically agreed to it not being an issue.

again, what am I even reading right now…

Something like this:

Player - Blizzared I do not like the color or look of my gear.
Blizzard - We already gave you transmogs and dyes.
Player - So what I want to vent about a non issue.

Blizzard - But… you can change them anywhere now!
Player - SO. WHAT.
Blizzard - …

d4 players man… its a never ending back and forth.

Sorry fellas I guess I’m old but I remember rpg games that did not have transmog feature and character with equipped gear still looked good. Forgotten design I guess. Gotta keep selling those skins. Talking to you guys is pointless but yeah I know some of your names and you always bring down any critique that could improve the game.

It’s clear that what op actually wants is the default color scheme of the game to be grey scale

Until the next person comes along and says: “why is everything gray” I want color, fix it Blizzard. :man_shrugging:

So what color should everything be defaulted to? What color do we all want, unilaterally? Because we all want the exact same thing.

If only we could change the color of an item with a few simple clicks.
