From Forbes interview, sadly not allowed to post links
“There is one new Uber-Unique coming this season (they previously said there wasn’t, but corrected that later). I pressed them on the absolutely insane drop rates. “It’s easy to add additional opportunities to get that thing, it’s harder to go the other way where you have something that’s common,” Shely said. They indicated that in the future, the drop rates or paths to acquisition may not be quite as one-in-a-million rare as they are now (do not yell at me when this happens).”
So, one of the six new uniques is one that you will not get, so it’s actually 5 new uniques next season, presumably one per class. Still, they’re looking at the drop rate and ways to obtain them, hopefully they massively buff the drop rate to at least 1 in 50K or give us ways to specifically target-farm for uber uniques with higher drop rates (like shiny-hunting in Pokémon lets you change a 1 in 4096 chance to 1 in 128 by doing specific things for example)

Don’t think they’d make seasonal uniques with lottery drop rates.
They should not. Anyways.
There really needs to be SOMETHING to be excited about. Lacking in that dept pretty bad right now
I saw that, and your assessment is true in every practical sense. There are effective 5 unique items being added to the game for season 1, and if things stay on brand, all 5 are likely to range somewhere between absolute butt cheeks and niche. The one uber unique will likely be extremely good, which I’m sure will aggravate a good number of players yet again.
I’m not sure what he is looking at with the drop rates the way they are. There are basically 2 options
1.) Have a really stupid implementation of them
2.) Have a less stupid implementation of them
I guess you could argue there would be a 3rd option, which would be to have an even dumber implementation of them, but it honestly wouldn’t matter if they quadrupled the rarity of them for season 1. Both casual and extremely dedicated players would go from finding 0 of those items over the course of the season to finding 0 of those items over the course of the season.
yeah, I agree, they need to drastically improve the drop rates for uber uniques. maybe 1 in 5K uniques or something in that ball park might actually be better. still super rare but something you can actually farm for since right now it’s just the dumbest possible version of chase items
The Uniques and Aspects arent directly seasonal. They will be on Eternal Realm at the same time.
Only the Malignant Hearts, Season Story and Battlepass are unique to the Season

They should do a season with only new uber uniques and thats it, no changes to drop rates
would be hilarious, ten new uber uniques but 0 new items to get lmao

You mean they’re coming to a hell tide, temporarily, post patch update for a few hours before disappearing forever.
If they are so against adding specific drop tables to the game they should make the endgame content activities more likely to drop certain super rare uniques. In essence it is the same thing while maintaining their desire for a global drop table. IE Uber Lillith would have a 1/100 chance to drop Shako and AV or something like that while Helltides dropped the weapons at the same rate from Mysterious Chests.

We’re asking for pretty reasonable QOL updates and this is one of them.
That would be an appropriate implementation, but these guys aren’t going to do that any time soon is my guess. By the time they relent and implement those items into the game in a way that makes even an ounce of sense, about 25k-50k of the 10 million players that purchased their game will be around. I’d love to be wrong, but that’d be my best guess.
Target farming or specific drop tables for endgame content is the way the genre has moved for good reason. It makes people want to do content. No clue why Blizz is so hard for the global drop table. Buffing Uber Uniques on the global drop table based on a specific type of content seems like something they might be able to be convinced to do.
