Rare items not having 3 affixes makes them obsolete. This makes Vendors Useless

I’ve never used a vendor in my entire Diablo 4 play through. The gear they offer is pointless and expensive. Now with Rare items only having 2 affixes makes them even more useless. If vendors are going to be that expensive than they should offer items that come with not only 3 affixes but have the opportunity to sell Rare items with greater affixes. It would be awesome to be able to build a great piece of gear starting with a Rare item.

I dont do anything with rares they arnt worth picking up. Normal legendaries drop at the rate of rates did pre S4. I just wish in wt4 they dropped as crafting mats/gold. They dont vendor for enough so its best to ignore them.

In S4

Yellows are the new blue

They should do something like Kanai’s Cube in D3 where Rares can be rolled into Legendary. I mean, that’s basically what we had at the start of D4, except the roll wasn’t random because we could choose the affix, but Legendary having that extra line of stats makes the rares worthless.

They got plans for yellows. More to be revealed later…

All the gambling systems like enchanting and tempering where you rely on luck to get the stat you want on your gear is frustrating. Tempering only offering you 5 rolls per gear is insane. I would prefer a system where it lets me choose what stats I want but I will have to either collect mats or kill certain types of enemies to level up those stats to their full potential. Than Masterworking can kick in by further increasing those stats/affixes numbers beyond their capped amount.

What I think should happen is that, when you convert a Rare to a Legendary by imprinting an aspect to them, they should gain an Empty affix slot.

You should then be able to take the item to an occultist and enchant it to add an affix to this empty slot rather than replacing an existing one.

The more control they give us in fully customizing our gear the more interested players will be in trying out different builds which could increase player retention. Also if the devs were to introduce Loadout slots for paragon board and skill tree atleast, this would definitely have players tinkering more in the game.

Im not sure what is the reason D4 doesn’t let you trade masterworked items or tempered items. I think they should let you trade any piece of gear no matter if it was worked on or not. Imagine there are try hards out there that focus on building great pieces of gear to sale for gold or trade to other players. The way i see D4 in a nut shell is they should give us extremely high Endgame Goal ( like what we already have the Pit) and a set of systems to infinitely increase our gear stats but that takes more and more time to build the higher you go by increasing the gold cost and material cost to upgrade said gear. As the top players are fighting to get to the end they can make gold selling build pieces of gear to the players under them.

Just wondering, I know technically this doesn’t matter.

I know we have 3 affix again thank you.

Having Rare items with 750 item power. Not sure if this is a thing, but based on being in T3 i haven’t seen any, and the vendors certainly do not from what i have seen.

Not a huge deal, I just think, would it not make them more useful in the starter 750 build phase. It’s a decent strategy since the cost on mats, puts it in a better range for testing and working on builds.

This would also mean vendor finds will be more useful.

Which leads to the final question, should ancestral rare be a thing again, making it even more viable for a build for much deeper into endgame. 1 ga rare items a thing

It’s not absolutely needed , might be worth considering if we can do more with it though, If you agree lets try it, if not cool, and i enjoy the game as is and look forward to seeing what you all have cooked up in the future. :+1:

Nothing needs to change with rares at this point. They have a chance to roll a third affix but can’t reach i750. They can be useful in normal-penitent and become nothing more than materials in Torment. There’s no good reason to ask the devs to put more effort into them when the state of the game has much bigger priorities.

Fair. The reason is that they are offered in torment at vendors, drops from obols, and since they can be printed finding a rare with better affix’s that a 750 leg is possible. but useless since the item power difference.

So isn’t that fair to say, that if 750 legs could actually get me T1/T2 maybe even T3 that increasing the usefulness of the rare could be nice, Even for alts as vendor purchases. I don’t care that they stop dropping in Torment.

Why have the gear in the vendors that is such low item power. That was all i was thinking and this would help improve the times i have a great rare item find with better affix roles than my 750 legs, but are useless since the 750 leg is always going to be better at the base stat and even a poor rolled affix on a leg will inheritly scale higher than in MW than any rare item. due to the affix bracket.

Maybe its just me, but that isn’t a hard fix, to offer 750 rares and blues for that matter to make them more viable gear in the journey.

Not that it’s mandatory to make this change the game works, i just think it would improve it with little effort. Unless there is a good reason not to have 750 blues and rares. :person_shrugging:

Priorities on loot isn’t a big deal, why would it be, they have been and probably will again change it. like it has numerous times already. It’s not a rework, and everything i am talking about already exists and has been built, since the game launched with it. :person_shrugging:

This is just because they only have a passing understanding of their own game. There are multitudes of pointless/useless things that shouldn’t have made it to launch in the state they did, much less survived 2 years of active development.

There’s no such thing as an easy fix, for this team. Every time they touch something, they break 3 more unrelated things. I don’t want to encourage them to mess with anything that isn’t a critical problem.

Sure. I don’t fully agree. I hear you though.

It also solve’s the problem of rewards with the rare loot from side quests, I enjoy doing these and never going to do them all before moving into torment, so having something even if for a alt or new build be a good item due to it dropping as a 750 rare solves that.

Even better with the ga rare idea, imagine getting a grizzlys maul quest drop and not only could it be a 750, but a 800 version if you are lucky. This would be great since it’s not a farming mechanic since the quest isn’t repeatable on on toon. Making that find special.

This improves the game and interest of the open world, sure it won’t be something minmaxers do, but you don’t have to only improve the gameplay for minmaxers.

It’s up to them, and that is my input and suggestion as a regular gamer, and the qol it would be for the game.

They easily put 3 affix rare back so, this is along the same lines of effort, since all the OG diablo game had this already.

Maximum love would be rarespawn monsters can drop 750 or 800 versions of there loot in T1-4 or they drop 800 versions of the item they hold.
