Question about endgame activities

I understand glyph XP was moved to pit, and pit materials were moved to NM dungeons.
Those two endgame activities have a specific purpose and function.

What specific purpose or function, if any, do infernal hordes and kurast have? Just massive gear/material/resource/currency drops?

If thats the case… what specific purpose do Helltides now serve (other than living steel)? Back in S4, they were the defacto XP meta until a certain point mid endgame.

Thanks.

Hit Torment 1 this morning and trying to get a handle on what I want to focus on next to push to T2 quickly.

Bingo. IH compasses are said to be less common now, so you may not find as many as you used to. When you do it’s supposed to be break up the monotony I guess.

Undercity is meant more for specific farming. Once you have the appropriate tributes of course. At least you can guarantee a specific type of loot, or a guaranteed random affix within certain parameters.

Same thing they always did. If you want to use them for exp you can. I would say they’re still good for grinding out the seasonal reputation, but less needed now with all the content you can do. Otherwise like you said, just for Living Steel.

From what I understand, helltides are really good and outshine some of the other content, but they cant be spammed because they need compasses which are more scarse than in s5.

Thats unfortunate. They went from moderately useful pre s4 to abundantly useful in S4, to “meh” now.

you mean infernal hordes?

Yes my apologies. I keep swapping these names.

So, I suppose the loop would be:

NM dungeon spam for Masterwork materials
Pit spam for glyph XP/difficulty push
Helltide to break things up/Living Steel/XP Grind?(Is this better than NM dungeon/pit for XP?)

IH for gear/mats/resources when available
Kurast for target farming

Rinse. Repeat.

Whispers for gold, boss ladder/ubers for mythics.
Citadel/Lillith endgame challenge.

Sounds about right. I would say the density of Helltides combined with the ability to summon the Blood Maidens would potentially make it the best spot to grind exp, but I don’t have the numbers. You’d have to refer to a number crunching streamer that loves to grind.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think NMD have tiers anymore right? It’s based off your difficulty tier?

IH is for mw mats, gold and items i guess

Correct, looks like it.

Basically yes. I was gonna write a separate post on this but I’m having a hard time finding the right words without writing a 10 page essay lol.

I would say S6 VoH has more variety and options now for the endgame journey. In S5 you are pretty limited and gated with meta builds that can clear T7 / T8 for mats and forcing yourself to do the non-challenging, boring NM dungeons.

Now NM is more palatable. Infernal are still good but now you don’t feel getting gated with a meta build. Pit is less toxic in terms of boss difficulty. Plus you have Undercity for a different dungeon challenge with target farming and Seething Realm for more items.
