So? That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t extensive procedural generation. The point is to take that, which worked, and make it better. It made every playthrough of the game different, which helps immensely with the repetitive nature of the genre it helped create.

When you base your game around this repetition, you need to find ways to mitigate the “boredom” that comes from it. Diablo IV doesn’t have any of those systems in place, and is even built more around repeating it (with the continuous seasonal resets). This is the main reason why people have issues with this game. While the point is to repeat it infinitely, the game’s systems are not built to support that play pattern.
