PvP whine thread predictions!

Rogues will be complaining how they deal no damage to barb and barb killing them in 1 shot

Rogues will be fine, nerf druids, bump barb fury regen and i can’t think of too much else.

Curious why?

Idk. I think the best PvP games were old. Take WoW for example. PvP was good in that game 10 years ago where now it’s trash and unplayable. Not everything gets better with age, more buttons/bells and whistles.

Problem with most PvP in games is they strive for balance which ruins the PvP because it ends up not being fun. A great PvP game needs to be fun and balance isn’t as important as you think. You in reality don’t need balance just counters. If something is OP but is countered by X because it’s also OP that creates a balance instead of nerfing both OP things. Which most Devs get wrong and why there aren’t ANY good PvP games atm.

Balance has never been a requirement for great PvP, the PvP just has to be great. In reality the players hope the game has enough depth where we can create our own balance.

I agree with this, as long as they shake the meta every so often.

In Elden Ring, there are builds and strats that are stronger than others (although there’s a surprisingly large amount), but you can smoke them by simply being better at the game.

As long as there’s a high skill cap, you can get away with some pretty poor balance. Add an evolving meta in a game with ongoing support, and it could basically last forever.

The thing is the “Players” dictate the Meta and should be able to create their own balance without the Devs ever touching the game. “IF” the game design has enough depth. In reality I want the Devs to almost avoid doing ANY balance but to only create a game deep enough for the players to find balance on their own. That’s great PvP.

If X build or X ability is too strong it doesn’t need nerfs. Just the players need to figure out a counter.

I can’t say that I entirely agree with you, but I don’t think that matters. We clearly both want deep, engaging PVP, and you enjoy PVP as much as I do.

If you see me on the Fields of Hatred, hopefully we’re both massively enjoying ourselves.

I bet people get beat in pvp and blame everything except the truth. That they died because the other person was better than them.
And this is not pvp. It is a gankfest. Because the only people attacking will be the only ones carrying no dust. They lose nothing the guy that farmed the dust the only one with something to lose.

The truth is that for a while you’re going to have people that had 96h (minus sleep) of extra farm.

And there will be people who’ve had 96 hours, minus sleep, or extra ganking, your point is what exactly?

That they died because the other person was better than them.

This starts being true after 2 weeks AND only with the interpretation that “better than you” INCLUDES (but is not limited to) “invested more time into the game”.

(With the first week also being “invested more money into the game”).


That’s actually one of the only 3 (probably) valid complaints.

  1. Ppl will group up and that sucks for people that get ganged up on.
  2. It’s gear based so always wildly unbalanced (classes being unbalanced complaints in this format are likely stupid anyway as a result so maybe make that only 2 valid complaints…where one of them isn’t actually that it’s unfair since you can make your own group…but it’s about how solo is getting shafted again in all aspects of D4).

See not even killed yet you already making excuses. You die to a group that is because you suck and no one likes you.
And gear does not matter really just added bonus. Someone with more gear has played longer which turn means they have more skill. And yes do not care who you are time = skill.

4 days pre order bonus for ultimate editions been known about for ages and it’s a problem now because why? Don’t go skipping questions bud.

I didn’t skip it.
It’s been known for ages that it will make things unfair until things even out after some time passes.

The point is people that paid for early access that are going to rush PvP achievements have an unfair advantage (and it’s not even temporary because once they got their free kills in it doesn’t matter, for the ease of achievement obtaining, if things do even out…they got those easier - even worse on HC).

If you can do it without 96h extra hours by not sleeping that’s different (also, you can’t, because even if you do you don’t get that “fresh meat” experience they will get on 6th-7th).

That’s one valid complaint for PvP which we have seen and will see again when it happens. Which is what OP asked. AND the person I was replying to said “person was better than them” (which is not going to be true for a while…and then not true even later in SOME cases).

Again, the point being? Sure they get in 4 days early, the playing fields always level out.

I’ve essentially had ultimate edition since September 10 2022. Hells ink promotion.

I’ve played other games where people get in early for having XYZ perks, is it fair, debatable, in the end though, it doesn’t really matter too much. It’s 4 days, not a month, not a year, 4 days.

If it’s a problem for you and others who did not get the edition with early access, that’s not anyone else’s problem.

Biggest crying will be antisocial /solo Andys getting dumpstered by groups.

Grouping gonna be more or less required for the pvp zones

Can’t discount the fact that clans can wrangle a complete takeover of a pvp map :joy::rofl: it’s gonna happen one way or the other :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That’s true, if they have the numbers there, then no one else can spawn there and a new phase would be created, that actually not a bad idea.

People are going whine about no pvp balance, even though the devs said there will not be any pvp balance.

I think there we will be those of us, who have our normal pve characters for seasonal things etc. Then we will make PvP characters. Taking the time to find out what is fotm for solo killing etc and then you’ll see more active pvp.

I kinda hope this does happen, as I’d love to be able to say “you know what, today I feel like PvP!”, log into the pvp character who is sat outside the fields of hatred and just waste a few hours of having fun, getting death threats, racist & homophobic remarks from people you kill.

Wouldn’t be too hard to manage, even getting 6 clan members in = dominance. For the most part.
Used to be a similar thing that happened in Neverwinter in the well of dragons ages ago, you’d have guilds basically flooding into the zone and creating guild only shards :joy::rofl:
