Well……that went over like a lead balloon
You meant PTR is a problem because people will know in advance that game is gonna suck?
The ptrs have proven that we need them SO much !!
Or the live game will be a desaster.
Hordes in the first iteration (ptr) were so bad… (example)
I think the players that do take the effort and time to download and install the PTR are most likely to play the live version eventually?
PTR is good for game testing. We have fun, BZ gets many testers for free. Win Win.
One comment from me is that it’s too close to Live, do they have enough time to fix any bugs and adjustments?
In S4 PTR, Fractured Winterglass was too strong, dev tried to adjust it but that messed up the whole damage calculation of Sorcerer down by merely 70% which made this class the weakest in S4.
S6 PTR shows many bugs on Barbarian that cause infinity damage, no joke, the damage presents on screen as ∞. Necro’s whole Shadow damage over time is less than poison nova of Andy helm. And so far there’s no “Known issues” thread or any announcement from dev in PTR Feedback forum.
I’m inclined to agree with a lot of what you said, however:
It didn’t make it the weakest class. We still had the highest pit clear with the admittedly broken immortal. It did dash the hopes of people who were excited to play FO and conjuration builds myself included.
Gotta love how complete Jackasses like this guy always cry about that bugged build doing infinite damage, and completely ignore how terrible and useless Barb was on the PTR outside of it.
Esepcailly when they cry about “Sorc being weak in Season 4” when they had the best Pit Clears.
On the contrary, I’m looking forward to Break Dancing on a rouge, Or maybe doing the two step shadow walk on a Necromancer. Or perhaps spinning around on a Barb. Won’t be killing anything but time, but hey getting dizzy with out drinking can be fun.
What about all the Barbs so used to being #1 crying when they aren’t?
lots of “Barb players” running LS and Andy rogue in S5 lol
I also don’t think it’s good that you can boost on the ptr.
It would be better to let the ptr run longer.
With boosting you have the non plus ultra, which you will hardly achieve on the live server. so there are also many people who claim the builds and chars are overpowered because they test on the ptr with perfect gear and everything on max leveled glyphs
A lot of people on the PTR actually tested it, I made a new character to test the PTR, I wanted the feel of starting new and it’s insanely easy, nothing to do with bis.
Yes to PTR.
I’d rather be disappointed in PTR now than be disappointed in the next season. At least I have tempered my expectations for next season.
It’s like seeing patch 1.1.0. Once that dropped, you know what to expect in the next patches.
The vast majority of players - I’d guess 90-95% - don’t play PTR. It’s mostly die hard fans who want to see upcoming systems or people who just want to make the game better, so I don’t think there’s much concern on Blizzard’s part that players are going to burn out on content before it’s released.
The PTR allows them to find bugs that their internal testers (lol) didn’t find and fix them before launch. It also allows them to collect player feedback on new systems and make necessary changes before they reach the live game.
My only concern about the way Blizzard does PTR is it’s often way too close to the launch of the content that is being tested. This PTR was less than a month prior to the expansion being released. They can’t possibly fix even a fraction of the things players found to be lacking. Ideally a PTR should be at least 2 months before the release of the content being tested, as that gives the developers time to reassess and make changes.
Nah last PTR, I saw some heavy nerfs and kinda expect the same, at least for Rogue.
There’s just a slight difference between “being number one” and “so functionally lacking in damage you can’t clear end game content without 3-4 Mythics regardless of your build” right
