From power gamer stand point of view 
… in previous seasons path was as following
a) choose class/built that can get you fast up to NM/Torment - do something the produce along way that produce a lot caches (depends on season actually)
b) those caches were secret of quality of life for the “main season char” because ancestorial items were market … cLvL55 
and mythical cLvL35 and second important factor - mass salvaging those (by your prime) would save your time to acquiring all aspects you need for the built
c) this season it was “seems” logical to try out spirit born and new storyline … well so far I am not impressed with quality of life of SB nor with storyline but I invoke my memories and found way to farm legendary items (with aspects) relatively early in game - just do realmwalker (lol what a surprise? ).
So I got myself with situation where SB not really best choice for first char but its kind of frustrating to give up to do quick start with say necro to just comeback to same steps of storyline
