well i am currently level 80 played full fire, i can handle 10 plus N/M can post a video if you dont believe me and i am sub optimal gear/aspects LS and renown.
Some passives imo for fire skills are busted so, it could be better.

I never said that I canāt handle mobs though so far I can handle mobs 7 levels higher than me, and depending on the dungeon sometimes 10 levels higher than me but those ghosts and vampires melt me down pretty quick, and poisonous spiders too.
My point wasnāt that we canāt handle mobs (though this can be argued), the point is that this class is weaker compared to other classes and very restrictive in build setup.
Another vote for this thread, great post now if Bliz only listens.

fair enough, not sure which realm you mean, but i still believe even though i think some sorc passives are not working properly, that you can build un-restrictively,
necro is the obvious meta and OP build of the season and seasons are about breaking builds and classes, so that is fine,
that said , reading what you describe, sounds to me like the character needs some boost to the defense side, this happens.
my sorc for example was doing great, until i ran a dungeon filled with those spike shooting critters, and they hurt so bad, not becasue sorc is weak, i can melt them fine, just lacked defense to that attack.
Sorc has good defence options its just different from other classes, barrier, self heals, and mobility and CC give sorc the advantage,
I recommend all the DR passives and consider how many points you use in glass cannon its a great damage boost but it adds to the hurt sometimes. Until my defense is tunned i sometimes take a point or 2 off that.
Sorc lucky hit heals works good, since we can boost LH chance in the ST.
DR from ranged is important too or perma barrier for those ranged attacks.
Never meant you cant handle, just meant i am testing non meta sorc and all fire skills and it works well, its not the best build in the game, but comfortable to clear n/m without being forced to take 2 shields and teleport.
That may be the meta, thatās fine, it works obviously, but so do other options is all i am saying , and i test those myself not based on meta data.
One shield fire is the only defense skill i run. all my skills and enchants are fire skills. and it works to meet the min 10 level clears, got to WT4 well before 70 all that, 76 i cleared 20 levels above, probably close to my limit and wasnāt comfy but not slow.
Not saying they are perfect but they do have options, just need to figure out how it works, that being said everything i am doing goes against the meta rule of thumb so, meta is a working method for sure, but i went hunting for others that work, may not be the best but if i can easily clear the min max XP caps thats all i need.
Now guys letās be serious about It. How many chance Will be that Will we finally see those 3 glyph that donāt have anything to work with in the paragon board for season 2? at least i Hope that with the changes they are planning to do with Vuln we Will not be Stuck to FN anymore(things to see Is if they Just Nerf vuln to the ground made It useless or they actually change something to make It interesting) same goes for crit damage and overpowered couse since well as sorc you are alredy very limited vuln wise and have no access/interaction with overpowered and well you use crit damage as any other classes unless they went for the router of changing those stat for something else instead of Just nerfing them to the ground i donāt see a bright futureā:rofl:
I approve this message
Might be that the OP is out of date? I wasnāt playing back in June when this was posted, but many things seem wrong/inapplicable to todayās D4 build.
No DR except from burning, stunned or chilled? Uh, except for DR from distance, DR from close, and straight DR? You can get those on various gear.
Crackling energy aspect gives 20-40% chance for another bounce, not 20-30 (was probably buffed since the OP.)
No generic +dmg in the paragon tree? Except for ~100% of ā+ non-physical damageā on the boards Iām using, and also a glyph for that.
Chain lightning bouncing only 5 times? Except for the aspect that makes it bounce 9 times, 20-40% of the time, 40-80% on a staff. My chain lightning sorc has it on a staff and it gives an 80% chance. Which synergizes beautifully with the skill that adds 5% crit per bounce. And the aspect that returns 3 mana for every bounce.
Dmg dependent on CC sucks because you canāt CC bosses? Except frost nova applies vulnerable even on a boss that canāt be frozen. Also, who cares about whatās good against bosses? Iāve run about 250 nightmare dungeons in this game, died probably 100 times in them, but never once died to a boss. Not even one single time. Because theyāre a joke, mainly because the minion waves that some spawn do practically no damage and have practically no life. Itās certain trash packs that can be challenging, not bosses.
In general, I think that max damage requiring either ccās or combo attacks makes the game more tactically interesting. I havenāt played other classes yet, and if they turn out to be easier to level with, then I suppose sorcs should get a raw damage and/or defense buff. But Iām not having too much trouble with the content on my sorc. One death every other nightmare dungeon is just enough to keep me on my toes. If other classes are easier, it doesnāt mean theyāre more fun to play.
I have a few problems with this game in general, but so far the sorc class in particular isnāt really one of them. If it needs a buff to keep up with other classes, fine, but currently with the right build you can do all the content with this class, and itās fun to play.
PS: one problem I do have is that the 2 best glyhs, vuln and crit power, are dex based and there are no rare nodes that give +10 dex, only +10 int, so we canāt get high multipliers on those 2 glyphs.
Excellent breakdown. Dont hold your breath waiting on a real fix instead of a band-aid.

I cant check what board/glyh this is right now, do you know off hand what they are please ?
Guess the world Is so Wide with many different opinions that One with a different view from OP eventually come out. And while i respect your point of view i should also made you notice that so far in this post you are probably the only One Who have actually posted something about being "Happy"about the sorc state right now very different from many many others. Also still no One here Is saying that sorc Is unplayable (especially now After the ND Nerf) but many and iām One of them canāt really Say nothing about the class feel broken/unfinished compared to the others. Also side note (but this Is a personal opinion) i hate all this conditional damage/ damage reduction shinnanigans they build the class around i wanna play a sorc not a wdš¤£
Very well thought out and well written post, great job.
I 100% agree with you. Hopefully these changes gets looked into.
Per ritual.
In the last Camp fire chat, they aknowledged the Sorc reliance on four defensive skills.
While they arenāt going to deliver on that in 1.2 or 1.21.
It is something they are look at, they tied it to the Barb reliance on shouts as well.
This is SOOOO true.
Thank you!
Great post, and highly relevant.
I play Sorc from Season 4, 5 and 6 and nothing has changed much.
Just condition after condition and making Sorc worse among other classes!
Holy Necro! A lot of these issues are not longer relevant.
Great if they free 1-2 slots I can run 1-2 more conjuration skills to pump my dmg up. Every build is conjuration build anyway.
Wanted to bring this good post up again because it has very good suggestions.
