POE Is No Longer A Threat

Shoot man, I took a 2 month break learning how to produce music to play D4

We have 2 hands (probably) and 24 hours in a day. That’s it. Genres of a video game don’t change that.

Why would they need to since anything you had from a MTX carries over to POE 2.

LOL, Another Blizzard failure.

You can fantasize how much you like, end of day builds needs to be PLAYED in the game. It isnt a novel.

Solitaire is a threat to D4 in it’s current state. Any game is a threat when D4 is about 5% finished and the Devs are doing Emergency streams with no dates on solutions to very big problems. The fact is D4 shouldn’t of released till 2024. So it’s doing irreversible damage to it’s brand and is just advertising for other games.

PoE and other games will have a big bump up in players cause people will try D4 realize it’s not finished and play other games.

How do you know the dev isn’t sweet talking for a chance to work on POE 2?

Oh man what a good take. What if it was actually a cry for help? “Please GGG, lend a bro a hand”

You get that POE leagues pull 2-4M players and ~500k concurrent at launch, consistently, yeah?

POE2 won’t need to kill D4, POE is going to do that in 2 weeks with the huge 3.22 league.

Who do you think is playing this game and streaming it? Many of them are POE players waiting for the next league. Most of the biggest D4 streamers are POE streamers in the off season, they aren’t sticking around in 2 weeks.

There were 4x as many people watching exilecon presentations on twitch than there were watching D4 today. lol

This game is heading down the same road as D3 with 5000 players who play for a week each season. Probably faster decline than D3 since there’s minimal replayability here and its 10x as tedious.

D4 has some big dedicated streamers that will keep the game going on Twitch, but you have a good point. I will be watching Alk and a few others when the new league starts for poe. For some reason, i dont watch alot of D4 streams. The game is so cringe right now.

I mean, was it ever really a threat to begin with? I think not.

Are you serious? Diablo 4 won’t be a playable game for at minimum 6-9 months and that’s from the developer sown mouth.

I got to laugh at the title of this post. I was not aware we were facing a raid of witches and marauders. Followed by Some old dude with a stick they call a Templar who has beach crabs hanging off his behind.

Which dev said that and where? Show me.

Really? I was playing it this morning, it was great!

I’m playing it right now!

The league mechanic itself for the next POE league has more content in it than all of Diablo 4 lol. That’s not even touching on the existing end-game atlas progression or pinnacle bossing.

While watching the PoE presentation yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice the stark difference in dev philosophy. While the D4 devs are constantly talking about trying to fix things or keep thing tuned down so they don’t become overpowered, all I heard from the POE team basically boiled down(paraphrasing here) to “We know this is going to get a little crazy but we don’t care because it’s FUN.”

And then I compare that to the D4 devs disabling uber uniques because they found out they were ACTUALLY obtainable for about an hour, and 100 people out of millions were able to get one. On a pre-season eternal realm that hardly anyone will care about now that seasons are active.

I’ll keep stating the obvious in that it D4 has potential, IF – and this is a big IF – it’s not handicapped and cut off at the knees by outdated design philosophy and developer pride getting in the way of fun, and content that is engaging and rewards time investment. PoE isn’t going anywhere. Now with PoE 2 hype even higher, every PoE 1 league launch from this point forward will be even bigger than in the past. The bar has been raised, and Blizzard needs to meet it or exceed it. This is a multi-billion dollar company with tons of resources at their disposal. It’s time to step up to the plate and deliver.

Good for POE, it never gelled for me following guides to grasp convoluted systems and its just old. I cant play old arpgs, maybe d2r but honestly im loving d4 because its shiny and new despite its flaws.

Ill try poe2 and i hope both succeed so they can push each other to new heights.

I believe some of this philosophy stems from the existence of an immense endgame. No matter how overpowered you become, it remains extremely challenging. Unlike D4, which lacks an end game, making people “overpowered” would enable them to finish it in one day instead of three.

I don’t think we are gonna see any IF’s untill an expansion launches, creating a fun itemization, crafting, endgame is gonna take blizzard years from now. Most of the changes we will see is most likely like this season, then combined with some nerfs / buffs…
I don’t expect to see new builds, much other endgame than maybe a few more bosses loot pinatas ^.^ well they are more than welcome to prove me wrong, but the game should have been released with a good base for this, and it isn’t. Look at the skill tree, every class have 3-4 builds 1-2 viable ones, 120 different dungeons that is actually 5-10 just under different names, itemization that is more boring than my grandmothers everyday stories, one pinnacle boss… This took them 10 years?.

“We will be in full swing by Season 3”. Season three is 8 months out.
