my god this child believes rng has a memory. he also believes that if you roll a d20, 20 times you will get every individual number to come up exactly once. wtf has our education system done?
rng has a memory in gaming, because most games have protection, well smart games do, instead of wasting your life away. rng also has memory when the algorithm notices a paradigm shift in your gameplay, but I guess you would never of figured this out on your own since you lack critical thought and analysis.
you can predict when something amazing will drop in blizzard games, like wow and Diablo.
you can even predict who will be your opponent in hearthstone, because the rng isn’t rng… if you don’t see a shaman for 12 runs in a row, chances are the next opponent is a shaman, stuff like that, but what I’m describing is experience and awareness, something most gamers and humans lack
Yep, like theyve never played an arpg outside of D3.
Participation throphies make for an aweful game. I wouldnt recommend diablo, diablo 2, PoE, PoE2, LE and the list goes on.
Diablo 3 isnt an arpg might be up your ally.
Clearly an astute observation with all the information given. You probably have a shelf full of participation trophies adorning your basement walls. Your parents must be proud. Bravo to you for attacking somebody voicing their comment on what they thought of how the loot is being done. (For all I know, he may be right) I’m not sure “what” you’ve gleaned over the years; but, blizzard specifically made aware years that the more “pain” they assert in obtaining an item the more feeling of reward.
Not all “games”, because that’s what we’re talking about here, ya know, the things you do for fun… opt for the type redundancy in place of content, which speaks to the overarching theme of the state of affairs with this particular game.
Again, I’m not sure that’s what Blizzard has done. Because your explanation could be an infinite number. I am and have been under the impression that Blizzard doesn’t do that way. I may very well be wrong; but, having played Blizzard games for over 20 years and obtaining rare and less than 1% drops that hasn’t been the case. I just feel if we take your thought process then only 3% of the player base would have these items and it’s clearly not. I’m not sure how many 100 runs I want/care to do; but, I would surmise that if I run another 100 runs, I should see at least one… same as the next 100 runs regardless if I get it or not.
Regardless, if you shelve this whole debate on “how” it’s done and get back to the main point that 90 days in a “season feature” to make something nearly impossible for people to get doesn’t make sense at all. On one hand I can get another 3 seasons and never see a Uber Unique, (probably why they’re putting in a currency for it) and that would make sense. However, for something that is just for this season, seems ridiculous to covet these items. Especially since it’s not end gameplay, it’s not challenging, it’s not “fun” and won’t be engaging to the player base that’s left.
You’re so hung up on a fraction of the discussion that you never even address if you think that it’s FUN. Again, ya know, because it’s a game… a TRIPLE A game, with a TRIPLE A price tag, with an in-game money store, for a game focused on loot, that doesn’t change unless you pay for it. I like the game, I’ve invested time and money into the game, I’m not demanding to “get” something for free here, I just want it to be fun. If I have close to a million of these stones, at some point in time, perhaps they introduce a vendor, because again… it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun. Not some time sink on a 3 month never never-ending grind. I’d rather see the game not fail, for me, it’s that opinion. This isn’t Vegas, the items in question have a subjective value, all I’m trying to convey to somebody at blizz, happens to listen to the people who are still left playing their game because “we are fans” and not out making videos dogging D4 and/or playing one of the plethora of other titles that “seem” to be more fulfilling.
Just my opinion…
nothing is nearly impossible about getting them. friends had both stones in week 2. took me till week 3, but thats okay. i also have 1 of them on my sorc. so i will continue to run him so i can get both stones on my alt as well, then i will do it for my druid and so on. nothing difficult about getting them, its just whether you are a true arpg fan and have no issue with grinding.
You clearly dont understand rng. 3% isnt the amount of people who get items but a 3% chance to get it.
Thats not how rng works. The issue isnt the drop rate but your own entitled feelings. Sure you dont need to grind out ubers as they arnt build defining outside of grandfather for the barb.
Everyones idea of fun is different. I didnt find D3 fun because it was a game without a real loot hunt.
No but its an arpg loot game which has a slot machine aspect to it like all good arpgs. It could be that the genre is not right for you and thats ok.
its hilarious how people think they are the center of universe ALL THE TIME…
no one has any idea what the actual F is RNG lol wtf
I didn’t say that. I said, using your math “could be” nearly impossible. For example…
".5% = The chance for the item to drop does not change.
The odds for you to see the item change depending on the number of runs, but odds and chance are two very very different things in math.
Each attempt is still .5%. Which means that odds are that in 200 attempts you will see it once. That is not a guarantee, though. That just gives you the likely outcome. You could go 200 attempts and never see it. You could go 5 million attempts and never see it. You could go once and see it."
So again, it can be infinite or at least an unreasonable amount of attempts and like somebody else told you, our experience playing blizzard games suggest there is some sort of protection like that. I’m of the opinion that something for a limited time shouldn’t be painful and boring. That’s my opinion, you’re entitled to your own. If they did things like you suggest it’s quite possible people will never see the item and really kind of makes the upcoming ladders not as interesting without having everyone at least close inherently to these ladders. The only caveat is an uber unique perfectly itemized that will be representative of most likely 1% of the population.
I do and unless you’re on the Diablo team who is defining it, you don’t either. I already quoted… " “Calculating the winning percentage is equivalent to estimating a proportion of wins in total number of games. If there are no tie results, you need to divide the number of wins by the total number of games (wins and losses): winning percentage = wins / games”
^ It’s that and “if” they have a bad luck protection like someone else pointed out, which seems more likely. Without knowing how many times they are throwing the dice. Such as this person is suggesting… Blizzard has held the line when it comes to “how” their rolls work.
^
Lol, I love when people like to sound self-important and completely miss the entire point. Again, the point you miss is I never said I “SHOULD GET IT”, it was more of the seasonal event and the level of expectation if I get it. We simply DO NOT KNOW how many parses are being calculated. 3% of 10, different from 3% 100 or 1,000,000. All of you say RNG without even understanding what you’re suggesting; REGARDLESS, it still misses the key point and it’s exhausting to watch verbal acrobatics when the point is, "How long do you think a seasonal feature be infinitely gated behind a “RNG” wall? Is that something you enjoy? I don’t and it seems there are others like it. I hope you get a bunch of them for every attempt you do. I personally believe that loot is different from a feature from a current season. Sorry that upsets you and arrive at a different conclusion of what I said.
Finally, I never said YOU or anyone else shouldn’t. I just don’t want to because there are plenty of other games in my backlog that I want to play. There are many titles coming out in the genre. How long do you think Microsoft will dump into a failing IP? It’s coming free to XBOX live, so there’s that. I want the game to succeed and as I’ve said all throughout the conversation, my personal experience was out of 106 runs, it dropped once. I wasn’t even sure if it would ever drop and given the circumstances, it dropped once out of 106 chances. I doubt a seasonal item they would have and I had my doubts about the people who said they did it 500 times and hadn’t got it.
You’re responding to and entering into discussion with some of the local …well I won’t label, but I’d just cease and desist.
It’s a lost cause.
Remember: Bad design is bad design.
That’s what you’re competing against.
Otherwise don’t waste more of the time you waste fighting bad design trying to engage with bad actors.
The droprate cant possibly be 1% from chest. PPL were getting it much more often than that in my groups and own experience.
Its supposedly 3% and 0.5% from boss. I havent seen anything contradict this in my view.
Sure there are outliers and some ppl got hosed in 100 runs but overall numbers are adding up here.
However this is the same company that brought us the absolute masterclass in math of 1000*40%=1040 so ?
I don’t think you understand probability. It doesnt matter how many “parses” there are. There’s a 3.5% chance everytime between the two chests and killing Malphas.
There was a great post here recently explaining odds for Duriel uber drops.
For example, we all know it’s 2% for an uber drop to hit. But thst doesnt mean mathematically we will always get one per 50 runs.
Theres actually a worse case scenario: a 0.20% chance you run Duriel 300 times and have 0 ubers drop. Once you get in the 400s you ALMOST have a 100% chance to get an uber.
On the positive side, you have +EV in a way after 50 runs with a 64% chance of receiving one uber.
I got pretty lucky and got both evernight and genesis within 60 runs. For it to be two seperate stones I was lucky!
I got both in 8 runs total… Idk how to sympathize, I even got both Ubers I needed in 30ish total… So idk what all the hype is, it’s been this way both seasons, I refuse to believe people when I just get them like candy
I just got an Evernight
Uber unique are not supposed to drop too often. That’s why they are called Uber Unique and the most powerful items in game.
Worst season in the history of Diablo. I hope they have learned from this crap.
These end game items are for the lifeless. That’s how the game is designed. I believe they think the longer you are in game and grinding, the more likely you are to spend $$ in the cash shop.
