Again this is true. Gatekeeping already exist in Diablo 4. Capstome dungeon comes to mind. The stacking debuff is tolerable. Only those that doesnāt have high movement speed suffers.
Do what I do. Just skip it. If enough people stop trying for the seasonal journey they will fix it.

Wow, someone got butt-hurt real quick over a question. I am assuming you have no real rational reason why Diablo cannot have this easy to avoid mechanic. Some of you get so bent out of shape over a little video game. It is so odd.

I do offer my sympathy for any character class generally struggling with Pits/Tormented Bosses, those are balance issues, which hopefully will get fixed.
I donāt mind the Seasonal requirements at all.
I went semi-off topic because someone mentioned Pit bosses and Debuffs(possibly new S5 onward āmechanic/flavorless featureā).
I am against that - the Debuffs specifically - anywhere in the game.
The Pit itself is timed, has powerful Shadow Clones and scaling difficulty - Debuffs are a nonsensical addition to something with layers of parameters already in place.
Further - mark the unending stream of feedback about the hectic nature of the fights and coloring issues etc.
So specifically in Pits - Debuffs are asinine as thereās already conditions.
With Tormented Echos - Players SHOULD be able to engage in a battle of attrition without some arbitrary and foolish Boss Win mechanic punishing mistakes.
It does absolutely nothing to āTestā the Top Tier Meta Builds/Specs nor does it affect top players - it only serves to frustrate a large % of the Playerbase when they engage for the challenge and a few missteps cause damage to scale exponentially?
Thatās just dumb and was never in the franchise and should not be in it.
Especially since zerging is not possible - itās a small arena and HP resets on player death.
Iāll use Malphas as an example:
Pre nerf, it was a challenging fight for my 78 Incinerate/Firewall Sorc.
I had to be creative with my Construct to assist eHP and Barrier etc.
I had to be careful with only 9 potions.
It was FUN and fraught with peril(I hadnāt researched mechanics and which Tower was the best to leave alone etc).
The fights I had with Malphas and a sub optimal homebrew build were some of the best times I had in this game.
IF there were Debuff stacks in this fight - I never would have beaten him until much later and/or respecād to Blizz or BL.
The stacks take away the FUN challenge of a toe to toe fight by adding an arbitrary difficulty layer to something when one is already punished for being underleveled or undergeared.
Something so arbitrary that at the end of the day it becomes trivial and the threat is neutered at a point in character evolution.
So itās pointless, arbitrary and 100% gatekeeping outside of that threshold and a worthless addition/feature to the game.
This - ON TOPIC - adds to the OP because it adds an additional layer of gatekeeping to Seasonal Completion for Players.
