Hello Blizzard Support,
I would like to report what appears to be a bug related to the new “Echoing Elites” trophy/achievement from the latest Diablo IV expansion on PlayStation 5.
The issue seems to affect PlayStation players specifically and may be related to incorrect elite/boss kill tracking.
Problem 1 – Trophy progress does not update on PlayStation
The PlayStation trophy tracker shows no progress at all (0%) even after actively participating in Echoing Hatred runs and killing many elites/bosses. The trophy progress remains completely static inside the PlayStation trophy menu.
Problem 2 – Elite/Boss kills are not counted correctly on PS5
I played in a group together with PC and Xbox players. They successfully unlocked the achievement, while I did not receive it on PlayStation, even after more than 10 additional runs afterward.
Because of this, I believe the PlayStation version may be counting enemies incorrectly.
My suspicion:
On PlayStation, only enemies with the yellow/golden elite border around their nameplate and health bar appear to count as “elites,” while other elite-type enemies (such as purple affix enemies) may not be counted properly.
I have evidence supporting this theory:
-
In another PlayStation trophy requiring 1000 elite kills on Torment 12, the trophy unlocked exactly when I killed a yellow/golden elite enemy.
-
I also have a PlayStation video recording showing the trophy unlocking at the precise moment that specific elite enemy dies.
-
In previous Diablo IV DLC/content, similar elite-related achievements correctly counted purple affix elites as well, so this behavior seems inconsistent with older versions of the game.
Because of this, I believe the PlayStation version may currently have incorrect elite detection/tracking for this achievement, making it significantly harder or unfair for PlayStation players compared to PC and Xbox players.
Platform:
PlayStation 5
Achievement/Trophy:
“Echoing Elites”
(Kill 1000 Bosses/Elites in the Echoing Hatred)
Thank you for your time and investigation
Update 17.5.2026
Today I completed the trophy, and I can now confirm that only killed bosses count toward the progress. The trophy also progresses while playing in a group, and it doesn’t matter how many bosses a player personally kills or whether they even participate by dealing damage to the boss.
I played as a Warlock, while my friends played Sorcerer and Barbarian. Since they were faster, by the time I reached the boss they had often already killed it, and I didn’t even get a single hit in.
Depending on how many bosses you kill per run — around 20–24 is the standard — it depends when you unlock the trophy. But overall it takes somewhere between 44–50 runs, since 44 × 23 = 1,012. Most of the time we were getting 21–23 bosses per run.
I hope Blizzard fixes this bug in the future so that elite kills count as well, which would probably reduce it to around 15–20 runs.
