Pet peeve time. No wrong answers

I would say my biggest pet peeve is rolling the same temper 6-7x in a row and bricking an item.

Aside from that its just the general scaling of the game I suppose?

Every build I’ve played goes from being invincible and instantly killing monsters, to being invincible and killing monsters slightly more slowly than instantly, to being instantly killed. I don’t really know how to solve this, but its really annoying since I noticed it. There is no point at which I feel I have any active game play control about my survival, I’m either invincible or I’m dead.

Im a weird player in that I enjoy the paragon board and usually dont look them up or I do then try to improve it. There is some satisfaction from figuring out best paths and glyphs for each board. I came up with my own 7 board homebrew for my chain / spear build and its been working really well. Really happy with my boards after much trial and error.

Will share with anyone who wants.

Why is there still no wild card search on the paragon board. And the fact that I can’t get rid of all the annoying supposedly helpful red circles every time I have a point to place.

My Pet Peeve is that Nightmare Dungeons are designed entirely to drop materials for beast in the Ice, it would literally take 5 seconds to program the end chest to have a random material from all Uber boss’s. I also get annoyed that their is no secondary type reward from the end of NM dungeons instead of sigil exp which essentially makes them dead content once you have maxxed sigils, hell just having a “choose loot bag” option instead of sigil exp would be nice.

I would say the UI is in desperate need of improvement left and right. To name just two examples:

  • I can’t stand the chat being blocked by a vendor window.
  • It’s almost funny how the Paragon window puts glyphs in that tiny space to scroll through

My pet peeve is how every cosmetic, horse included, is a mix from game items, shop items and season items
Instead of being all organized into sections

I feel ya. Maybe there are juicy NMDs not to be skipped, but IMO the differences between NMDs are so negligible (unless one is competing) that the sigil powder is adequate compensation for Blizzard littering the map with borderline unplayable vestigial content they’ll get around to fixing 2 years after release.

YES. One of 150 little clues that the game is designed ENTIRELY around consoles/controller, with barely a whiff of an afterthought for PC/keyboard. Being reminded that they needed an avalanche of “feedback” to institute a search function in stash, is something they should never live down if they’re otherwise proud of their work. It should cause anime tears to well up in their eyes, in moments of quiet contemplation.

I need a chess in the tormented boss summoning room!
I keep having to go back to town when on a boss run! :open_mouth:
(ok, it’s a minor pet-peeve… but why not hey? plus there is a chess in Infernal Hordes!)

Ooooo I support this idea! A good run of Tormented bosses have you running to town and back 2 - 3 times! I know you don’t HAVE to pick up that loot but Gold is important and you gotta break stuff to get the affixes (or w/e it’s called).

We need a chest in the Boss rooms!

  1. Renown tasks like strongholds and waypoints not being account-wide
  2. Side quest NPCs in town constantly talking due to the above
  3. The notification icon on the materials tab constantly appearing
  4. Being unable to dismiss said icon due to legacy mats still dropping in Helltides
  5. Non-tormented ladder bosses being at a fixed level
  6. Beast and Zir requiring more mats that are harder to get
  7. Andariel being harder to summon than Duriel due to above
  8. Having to lookup what ladder boss drops what in a guide
  9. Not getting a skill point at lvl 1
  10. Not getting a skill at lvl 50
  11. Having only 58 total skill points due to above, which is a wonky number
  12. Last but not least… being unable to avoid killing the bunnies

The only and biggest one of mine is:

  • Gems
  • Skulls
  • Nothing

Nothing, not even a single socket that can be used for anything

Step 1 - had 1.6k armor on a piece of gear (overcapping me at 9.6k armor)
Step 2 - had to reroll into something else (+2 to Reap)
Step 3 - now I lack 1k armor, so I reroll former Temper affix for Total armor %
Step 4 - now I could add a Skull to fill up the missing armor from 9k to 9.3k and re-cap it but more slightly AND use my affix to something else instead of armor (and use the blank socket space and populate with a Skull)
Step 5 - a couple levels later I equip a couple +50 Armor point on a Paragon board (amplified by Amplify so they give nearly armor of 180)
Step 6 - I remove the Skull and kinda lack ~60 Armor but not a problem (MW will take care of it later), what do I place in the empty socket piece ? (all res already at 70)

I mean :person_shrugging:

I’m not saying only cause that’s the only one I have, I’m saying only cause chances are if I talk about them, they’ll probably screw some more/other things

Thanks for the worthwhile post. I don’t have the same peeves but for me.

1: My alts cant’s use my stashed sacred items until level 60. WHY IS THIS STILL A THING? My alts on world tier 4 CAN’T use my stashed gear until level 80? Do they WANT me to ditch the season early?? Don’t they want money/me to stick around for the season for the chance I will throw extra money at them? I absolutely cannot fathom why they hate money and are driving me away here. Obviously: this is my number one peeve.

2: Blessing and curse but as a sorc player they save me a LOT of money cos almost every sorc transmog is about showing side/under/top boob. I’ll whale up when they give some male sorc transmogs or at least less ladies-of-financial-negotiable-affections.

3: WHY did they nerf teleport cooldown this season?? There were no absolute crazy builds with teleport… just feels like trolling.

No need to ever login to the game for that.

we have

I’m a little obsessive about those notifications too. It’s impossible to ignore them. Dang I got something new, I hope I got a Scattered Prism, I really need a Scattered Prism, please be a Scattered Prism… DARN it’s an Iron Chunk!!!

1) Too many layers of RNG obstruct casual players from gearing up

  • Get a good GA item, temper without bricking, reroll without huge gold cost, masterwork the right affix, reset the bloody masterwork at huge cost if wrong, rinse repeat. It’s almost like they designed this hamster wheel to drive engagement and extend player time… but for me it’s just gonna make me quit faster.

2) Repeating boring content/tasks every season

  • Waypoints, strongholds, level 15 class quests (PLEASE MAKE IT STOP). As others have said, it’s sorta ok if we have to do strongholds and waypoints ONCE per season, but once done, are open for all other alts that season.
  • D3 had legendary gems that could be shared with other characters. What happened to that great idea? Instead we are grinding the SAME predictable glyphs every season for each and every character. I wish they’d simplify some glyphs that could be used across classes and be shared between characters. Leveling glyphs is probably my least favorite part of the game.

3) TOO MANY MATS for everything

  • three… (or is it 4?) legendary mats. 3 new mats from pits. The different mats for the different boss summons, which drop different mats for other bosses. I honestly only know a few names for these things, like Forgotten Souls, but that’s only because it’s from D3. I don’t even know what most of this sh*t is called! I open the 2nd tab of my inventory and it’s all just a mess of unnecessary crap. Please D4 devs, SIMPLIFY THIS.
Here’s a real pet peeve: we don’t need the body parts for Varshan anymore, right? Then WHY are they still dropping in game??

4) A braindead lack of core game features from D3

  • Armory. I want to try different builds. I want to respec by pressing like 2 buttons, not spending 45 minutes re-clicking hundreds of nodes while I stare at my second monitor.
  • Matchmaking/Social features. A glaring omission for an arpg with “mmo features” LOL!!

Honorable mention:

  • they bothered to make an “open world” game in which the open world is totally irrelevant unless you’re in Helltide.
  • Nightmare dungeons stink. “put the stone on the pedestal” etc etc… These are kinda cool the first time you experience them, but the 75th time? You’re just cursing the fact you have to open the map and figure out which tiny piece of hallway is unexplored, then backtrack, backtrack, backtrack. What fun!
  • RMT gold, bots, wildly inflated trading prices (billions for decent items which have to be arranged with a 3rd party website).

I’m sure there’s more, but I’m tired.

I hate logging in and seeing “World boss will spawn soon in xxx” and then I look at the map and can’t find it only to realize it actually spawned 10 minutes ago and is dead.

Yes, and why don’t they sort the glyphs so that the last one that got leveled is at the front?
Once you have one at 15 you start with the next and don’t lvl it further.

Not being able to set a home town for the “T” key.
When doing Duriel Rota you end up in the town with the worst layout. You have to select Map, switch out of the dungeon and search K-Mart on the map and manually travel there.
