Penitent is too easy post lvl50

I lvled up on Expert playing a Barbarian and I felt like needing more challenge so at lvl50 I switched to Penitent. Honestly, it didn’t feel much different compared to Expert in terms of challenge so that’s disappointing. I’d expect monsters, especially bosses, to hit harder at that point so I’d have an incentive to further optimise my build, but that wasn’t the case at all.

I’d say mobs/bosses definitely need to ramp up in dmg output post lvl50.

On the bright side once you hit 60 and start up the Pits you’ll have plenty of difficulty waiting for you. However at level 50 if you’re already well geared, I imagine Penitent wouldn’t cause much of an issue. Now if you tried it back at level 1, that’s a whole other story.

I mean, yeah, there’s a reason I lvled up on Expert

I’m just saying, Expert felt good to me leveling up a Barbarian, and I felt Penitent didn’t hit nearly as hard as early on. So, with some adjustment it could be pretty good.

You think if you switched to Penitent earlier then 50 it would’ve been better? Just curious where the cut off is for difficulty for you is all.

That’s a good question. Unfortunately, I didn’t bother switching to Penitent earlier. But it didn’t feel much different at lvl50 compared to Expert, which I find odd. I was expecting to get 1 shot but I just breezed through it.

Thinly veiled “see how uber I am” thread is thinly veiled.

So play on a harder difficulty? If Penitent were the hardest difficulty it would matter, but it isn’t. So…

I agree with you. The problem is at lvl50, Penitent is the highest you can get. T1 is gated behind lvl60 AND the Pit.

All I’m saying is post lvl50 Penitent falls off hard when it needs to pick up from Expert. It just needs some adjusting.

I played to 60 on hard as spiritborn. If you’re rolling Penitent on a Barb good for you but you’re not gonna get to 60 sitting on here.

I’m just saying man. If Penitent is supposed to pick up from Expert to accompany us to the journey towards T1, then it needs adjustments.

The new difficulties are meant to be effective for anyone wanting more or less challenge. At this point, Penitent feels quite disappointing to me at the latest part of leveling.

Penitent is more for try hard starting at lvl 1 than a bridge from hard to torment

It’s pretty cool you can go in at lvl1 but it’s pretty hard, I tried it, lol. Not sure why it shouldn’t be more challenging later on though. I think it definitely should.

I playing penitent at level 38 and I feel I am not doing that much damage it takes forever to kill things. I am playing a sorceress. I am not dying much so I am chugging along. Should I go back a tier? Is it meant for a higher level. There does not seem to be guidelines like there was before. Monsters are supposed to scale to ones level.

What I did was I got all the dmg I could get, at that point Vulnerable, put gems in every socket, and temper everything I could. Basically, I used all the systems available.

How were you able to get enough iron and abstruse sigils?

Difficulty in diablo just means more health, hits harder. It’s not like monsters get some new mechanics or something. Just hit it until it dies and don’t get hit.

Heck, I’ve tried farming seething realms but they give a paltry amount and the opal things don’t help much.

I can do that, like I said I am not dying much it just takes forever to kill something. Heck, treasure goblins are impossible to kill before they escape. I did not have this much trouble last season.

Yeah it’s not a threat to the player. Just feels like whacking the test dummy that never goes away.
