PC Rubber Banding 50 latency to 500 latency to 1000 latency in 10s

Also experiencing terrible rubberbanding (300-3000ms ping). The game is unplayable right now

the rubber banding happens with drastic FPS drops. thought it was my internet connect, but after further examination, I noticed my FPS drops from 120+ all the way down to 0 in an instant

Did you run a WinMTR? See where the ping hike occurs?

Use this tool to help troubleshoot the error. Lets make SURE its on Blizzard’s servers.

Also refer to this thread for some additional information that may help you troubleshoot the problem:

According to my winMTR it’s packet loss in some hops when I try reach anything outside my Country(Sweden) so It could be something in Europe(not just blizz related). I tried towards google.com and I receive same PacketLoss.

Well, that’s what these tools are for. To help narrow down some of these problems. Its very easy to say its one thing, when it may actually be another.

I noticed that Bell.ca servers have been having high packet loss causing issues for many people in Canada, especially around Toronto.

Experiencing mostly unplayable rubber banding since June 9th.

It’s not the os update, I haven’t updated and I’m getting 2k Ms since yesterday.

Is it me, or does this seem to be getting more and more broad?

I’m starting to wonder if the ISPs are blocking D4 traffic in some way.

Think it of like this: (and this is me just off the top of my head)

ISPs probably monitor traffic for bad actor stuff (not all of them but humor me)

If they detect an increase in a type of traffic they may not like, could they block said traffic?

I don’t know. It may be nothing. But it makes me wonder is all. So many having issues with connections.

I need more of you to run the WinMTR I linked above. Maybe we can see where the blockages are and pin this down.

Still seeing spikes from ~150ms to ~1700ms today. Will probably stop playing if it keeps up.

I’m also getting ping spikes and Rubber Banding since the 42338 Client patch. I’m also North America East side. And my internet connect is fine - first thing I troubleshooted , if I can play other online games without issue and watch live streams at 1080p+ - it’s not my internet.

Basically I’ll log on without issue everything fine for around 10 minutes or so, then the rubber banding starts a bit and slowly gets worse and finally disconnected… I can survive about 30 minutes fighting the rubber banding as I go. Sometimes I can Fast travel into town and gate back and it sometimes clears it up for a few minutes but only in Dungeons.

I hope this is more detailed ?

Its fine. But can you run the WinMTR test here

I see you are getting some packet loss. While 2-3% isn’t much, that’s enough to cause issues with games. It only takes 1-2% to glitch voice and video chat, and games are just about as touchy.

So it looks like your ISP is giving you a little bit of issue. Though frankly, I have a couple of comcast results with way worse numbers than you have.

Well, whatever that is, there’s the drop. 88% loss on that node. Probably one of the servers after the immediate ISP ones.

None of yours have names either. Not all do. My Starlink doesn’t have names on it either, just numbers.

same here after the recent server update, average 247 to 400 and get over 1000 in game.

The rubber banding and fps drops are insane. Nearly unplayable.

How has this not been addressed by Blizzard? I got a VPN and it’s still not helping. Random lag spikes no matter when I’m playing. Never happens on any other game.

Hi, Sorry for my english, I don’t know if it helps but I found a solution, at least in the PC version. From day one every 4 seconds I had a rubber band effect and my character would go back, the skills would start seconds late sometimes and everything was unplayable. Thinking it was my connection, I activated an offer with fiber, and despite the 800 mega per second the lag was present. I tried the 200 attempts read on the internet, between YouTube videos, etc., between activating things and disabling other options. Nothing. From the console ctrl + r the latency shown was always exaggerated (+1000). The assistance has not been able to help me, and the connection could not have been, perhaps their servers, but strange that for some it worked and for others it always didn’t.
From the task manager I started deleting every program, and entering the game the latency was gone!
I try again to figure out which program was conflicting and guess what? This cursed battle.net app opened during the game caused me latency!! Trojan horse style, the most unthinkable program was the one that was the cause of my pain and I think of many other people too, since there are hundreds of topics where the description was like my problem.
Then start the game, immediately stop the garbage of the program in question and maybe the game will go smoothly.
Congratulations to blizzard and its engineers.
