Necromancer without pets is just a Sorc with no mobility and no defensive cooldowns. Not totally useless, I suppose…but pointless, definitely.
The entire point of the Necromancer class - literally - is that they are a commander of the undead. That is what makes them a Necromancer. Without necromancy, they would be a sorcerer or a witch.
For them to make a Necromancer class without a (strong) summoning archetype build is foolish. To expect everyone to sacrifice their minions or watch them get one-shotted is a non-choice. Just roll Sorc.
