It’s been a typical Blizzard thing to separate an expansion patch and expansion launch by a week (with expansion patch having all the expansion content in the game, just disabled/inaccessible), to basically mass beta test the build and fix any potential major bugs, to ensure the expansion launch goes more smoothly…
Can we expect 2.0 this week on live servers (albeit with expansion only content disabled until Xpac launch)?
Or are we doing an “all or nothing” thing on VoH launch?

Yeah Preload should definitely happen, just to avoid download server bottlenecks from millions of people all trying to update at the same time.
Even so, seems a bit “launch risky” to have the entire patch and expansion same day. Perhaps I’m merely too used to blizz MMOs, where there’s nearly invariably a “prepatch” two weeks out, specifically to get people used to any new mechanics and to test server stability, with the actual expansion launches being more of a formality where they just allow access to the actual content.
That’s unlikely to be the case here I’m guessing it will drop a few hours beforehand if we are lucky.
Most of the assets are currently already preloaded from the map updates I can already see.

I don’t get why people are bothered by that. aren’t “they” literally getting a potentially broken product with fatal bugs?
I wouldn’t wanna play an early Blizzard product. look how long we’ve had to wait for D4 to get in THIS state…
The download usually opens just few hours before the launch.
They are not going to release 2.0 before doing the campfire chat to discuss what changed since the PTR.
Which means they cannot release 2.0 before Thursday basically. And releasing such a big patch on a Thursday is more risky than releasing it at the same time as the expansion IMO.
Plus, we also never got any patch before the actual season launch, and story/class aside, VoH is nothing more than a big season.

They should go ahead and patch the game now. That way they might have time to patch the patch before VoH is released. No runes would drop until VoH.
Patch will likely be a hour before it go live. like always. It rare any game allows you to download any patch more than at least 24hours ahead of release date/time.
Plus the one streamer are using most likely a private promotional server, and doubt they will get to keep their progress. So they will still have to redo everything at live.

I figured as much, I kind of stop following all the post/info related to this. It not hard to ignore twitch/youtube for a few days. People love to cry about a meaningless promotional thing that really don’t effect them in the end. Yet it hurt their ego that aren’t included in these special privileges.
