Is there some point to using obols at level 90+? You literally get level 60 items… why? Honestly, how many way does blizzard find to annoy people? Did they mean to do this? How many sloppy things can they do in a game? Do we need Grinding Gear Games to teach them how to not annoy players with generic mechanics that’s been out for years?
You won’t get ancestrals every time. The gear isn’t actually level 60. 60 is just the max level requirement for sacreds. 80 for ancestrals.
Do you really think these devs have an idea what they were doing while designing it?
HAHAHA, well…
These are the same devs, that made you play with 4 stash tabs, let you load everyones stash and inventory, lets you ride the most obnoxious horse ever created in a game, they thought aspects and Shayti rares with 4 mods and millions over millions of gold for a single roll would be fun…
These are the guys that thought, it makes sense.
it’s just for aspects I guess, nothing really worthwhile once you get your build set up
Well thanks for clearing that up slightly, however 60 is 60. To the common player looking I’m spending currency that’s a little annoying to get and I’m getting useless gear - d4 is the champion of finding ways to annoy. It’s like buying a “new” house and finding a million little things that lets you know the builders are sloppy.
Don’t get me wrong. At 90, the gambler needs to stop giving sacreds, but the level requirements on drops in D4 have never really matched up with the items’ power levels. Only the item level range scales with level up until level 50. The level requirement is pretty meaningless.
Yea I wrote a few posts about multiple annoying things, including a “dumb” stash tab. It’s not fun reading through all those tabs when a search function in the inventory tab could make a search for 10 seconds… blizzard needs lessons from path of exile… or, I don’t know world of warcraft?
Yea, Max roll Aspects. That kinda it. It doesn’t even work out well when leveling.
I just use them to collect Aspects as I level. Unless it’s a damage one but most those suck anyways.
obols gambling should be the only way to get a shako.
But yeah, obols only purprose is to piss you off when you do an event and pick up look and realize cray, i’m max obols gotta go back to town random spend them on useless crap so i dont waste those obols
on a side note, i bout a bunch of keys and I opened a obols key chest in the open world and got 3 yellows! they werent great but i got 3! thats frigging amazing (first time since beta I got 3 yellows from 1 chest)
Since you cannot gamble for Uniques (which is pretty dumb) the main reason for Obol’s isn’t about the gear itself but trying to target farm imprints.
Just a bad and unpolished system used to try and farm something out of a different bad and unpolished system
I mean you could use them for Keys for the silent chests. But i believe they take a lovely inventory slot in the elixirs / sigil bag. Been awhile since i purchased cause the chests were hot garbage, not sure if they are better with the buff to them.
Or any other game since 1991
id love it if you could “gamble” with obols for 100 obols get a “mystery” cache which could contain the following:
90% - random gears (any type)
5% - random materials (any type)
4% - random cosmetic
.5% - random mount (special gambling mounts only - offer 4)
.5% - random unique item!
And don’t forget that keys stack to 5. At least they did before S1 and since you can go days without seeing a silent chest that drops garbage there really isn’t any point to carrying keys on you.
actually they stack to 12 (i believe)
I use them on alts get one to lvl 25 so they can get legendaries and get some good gear
Tree of might rewards are also terrible as well. I have never gotten an upgrade or anything interesting from turning in favors. Who thought this was a good gameplay loop? “Diablo needs something like WoW dailies, just as low effort, but even less rewarding to pad out the content” thought one dev. Here we are now.
It’s good for farming aspects, or for a quick infusion of gold or materials once you get to high levels.
One thing I wish they would do is add most choices to the vendor, like the scrolls of forgetfulness to respec (or whatever they’re called), rare materials, cosmetics, high rolled aspects, a chance for uniques… etc.
Nope, haven’t had anything good drop from a silent chest in a long time. Even stopped buying keys.
