I only use obols for 750’s to gear alts and for a very slim chance at mythics (zero so far). That’s about it though. I did notice last season I had a fair amount of uniques come from it although I never needed it for that purpose either.
I kept saying that Obols were a great source of Ancestral last Season, and got blasted for it. I even posted screenshots - usually 3-5 Ancestral per inventory of gamble.
“Nu-huh! You just put GA items in your gamble screenshots!”
Now that it’s gone… laughing my a off when players complain about it.
It was fun and players liked it. So they did what they always do in this situation. Far be it they look to find a balance between what we had and what we have now. They just ruin everything they touch.
I liked it because I could get some decent gear while leveling a character. Now I don’t even bother anymore even in T4.

These people blasting you never played the end game last season. Obol gambling had an INCREDIBLY high chance at getting you ansectral unqiques. It was one of my main sources for uniques in general. Still can’t believe how bad it got nerfed this season though…

That is true, because they did not touched it since core game rework in S4.
You see in vanilla those yellows did matter, when progression was slow and loot wasnt showering, buying some great yellow item was still an option as an upgrade.
But even back then it wasnt super good.
Vedors should have an option to restock them for unlimited time with raising gold cost. They should have a chance to offer you legendary item(3afx) with low chance or even unique item(very low chance - same as purveyor now) to make them relevant, simple fix that would made a change even for campaign progression.
Reagarding a state of purveyor now - they could raise a chance for GA or Unique by just a tinyyyy bit fe. to get at least something now and then.

Not having whisper keys when you find a chest gets annoying so I guess that problem is taken care of now. Hundreds and thousands of obols spent on whisper keys. They could even increase the price of whisper keys and no one would care. You get enough obols for more keys than you know what to do with.
Gambling was a bit too good, so Blizzard gave it a right good dumping on. Mr.Malignant tunnel dropped trough like he always does and said “You think pre-season 1 was bad? Wait till you see THIS turd!”
yep agree obol gambling is pointless now.
I actually got two decent 2GA items from the Mercenary Barter vendor.
I finally had my first Ancestral Legendary drop from the Obol vendor yesterday. Sadly, the stats on it sucked with the GA being on the worst possible affix. That is after burning through about 12,500 Obols since the start of S7.
Don’t ya just love their current solution to this? They’ve cut way back on the number of obols that drop in the pit. You still get the same garbage but you won’t be as irritated as often with how crap the system is
