NO. Don't even think about it. TRANSFIGURE ALREADY SOLVES THIS!

Continuing the discussion from 3.1.1a Patch - July 16, 2026:

Transfigure system already solves the chase. We do NOT need the crafted tag in any form ever again and I will NOT even START a season in the future that has a crafted restriction.

We already have to:
Farm a good unique item
Socket it
Temper it
Enchant it
Masterwork it

Now we are ready to Transfigure it.
Transfigure can be useless (indestructible)
Transfigure can destroy the item (Affix replaced on a good affix)
Transfigure can give a weak outcome (1 out of 15 quality for example)
Transfigure can sometimes give an amazing outcome and the item is finally done!

If we have to do all of that next season, then upgrade it to mythic, then transfigure it, IT CAN STILL BE BRICKED BY TRANSFIGURE. It can still get a useless or weak transfigurement. It will likely still need many attempts per slot to get a good unique, upgraded to mythic and with a good transfigurement. It does NOT then need a crafted tag?!

Just take the win of removing the crafted tag everyone hated and let go of the ego and pride. This one quote of considering putting the crafted tag back in season 15 literally made me scream into my pillow at the insanity. At least my wife got a good laugh at that.

The changes today won’t help in S15 with a crafted tag because buffing mythics from corrupted reaper is still only buffing RANDOM mythics with no agency. This makes sense without a crafted tag because we can just use the Pandemonium Fragments to target mythics.

The crafted tag will instantly kill player agency and targeting of specific mythics again if it happens in S15. This will again make pandemonium fragments useless, and leave players unable to target farm mythics.

There are no announced changes to other lair boss and belial loot to be targetable to actually try to get anything but random useless mythics all day from Corrupted reaper.

Yesterday I spent 38 superior lair keys on belial for example, chose Grigoire 38 times, and got 2 mythics - one from Lord Zir and one from Duriel.

The crafted tag has no place in Sanctuary.

I have posted many times the best solution. The best solution is and always will be a balanced approach. No more gutting mythics into oblivion. No more having them rain down like candy or being super rare. Lets approach all things with balance.

Make mythics op and buff bad ones and make some for slots that dont exist like lets make fist of fate with huge lucky hit a new mythic. IT was super good item that made lucky hit builds work. Then lets limit mythics to one per character. Mythics would not be craftable. WE have enough crafted items. Mythics would be uber dopamine hit because they are only drops. They would also have 4 set affixes back and have at least 1 GA. Also sparks allow enchanting of mythics and always give GA on enchant. Fun!

Then make mythic quality epic rarity. No need for this to conflict with itself. You can use as many epics as you can find. Epics are the new chase with mythics. You could even get super lucky and find an epic mythic. What do epics do? Well lets do better than boring same same 30% unique power. Lets expand it to all items. How? Well epic items have a bonus and its not always the same! It could be 2 temper slots or extra socket or 5th affix or greatest affix [100% bonus] or aspect 30% higher or main power 30% higher, ect. Many possibilities and combos. An endless farm. Epics then dismantle into infinity shards and these allow you to enchant epics with GA or guarantee a GA temper and maybe even 100 lets you restore item to dropped state IE erase transfigure, temper, masterwork, ect. Epics would drop at 1% plus 0.25% per torment or maybe even half of this. Fun!

The problem with the Mythics is first of all that they try to solve the wrong problem, the second one is that they try assign an extremely rare drop type 2 assignments/roles

D4’s problem with itemization is lack of flexibility of how a certain item is used, and trying to solve that via Mythics (i.e. even that much rarer drop) won’t work. The other thing that D4 itemization lacks is a surprise factor = Mythics won’t solve that either

The way they solve both those problems is either with Charms or new type of a Socket. It’s also a relatively painless (or at least no side-effects type) solution

But, as mentioned prior - the problem that they got themselves into is trying to artificially add (assign) to Mythics a dual use

  • A use for breaking too much “randomness” of Uniques (by also adding another RNG factor)
  • A use for chase/God items

That being said - can’t use an extremely rare drop type to add a sliver of flexibility to a more common type in Uniques, that doesn’t work.

If want to expand on the flexibility of Uniques that can be done by either assigning that role to Charms or adding a new Socket type (or both), Mythics won’t do that job well => they’re either a Chase material for fixing Uniques or a God drop, can’t have both

Alternatively they could’ve just “unclogged” the gear toilet as I wrote in other thread by re-adding chaos Armor (only do it in a way where weapon does not roll in an armor slot). That way people can rotate in/out their choice of a crafted Mythic based on the chaos unique they got, the “toilet” gets unclogged and the chase/rotation/combining moves on

Just remove mythic crafting entirely.
Let items come from drops.

They can rename these into “Epic”, and just keep Mythic as they are/were

The problem is they tried to intend same item type for 2 purposes that exclude each other based on rarity requirement factor, that doesn’t work

The drops need some agency though like what Belial used to be. The mythics need to drop from the correct boss loot pools properly. Killing Corrupted reaper all day every day for endless useless mythics like Yen’s blessing or Rakanoth’s wake would make for a very boring season with NO agency for target farming.

Would rather see them drop the entire boss farming system. Repetitive and boring grind till your hands bleed.

In my view, proper A-RPG design is that all items can drop everywhere (with monster lvl of course being an exception, not saying everything should drop at lvl 1).
Shouldnt ever have to run the same boss over and over.

Oh, and stop making Uniques and Mythics random. Give them their fixed affixes back.

They can’t serve as both chase items and God drops, what they tried is assign both, and as you can see it can’t work

Either Mythics are the once on a blue moon type “God drop” (for bragging purposes & whatnot) OR they’re the chase item that will add your chosen Unique extra value (can’t be both)

But frankly I’d rather them just add a new Socket type (or new type of charm), that will solve both while keeping intact the drop rate requirements in return

I like this, I really do

Years ago I had a lightning druid using rakanoths with a GA on non-physical dmg, AND orange text from hitting the masterwork 3 times, so like +150% non-physical dmg. The point is, these boots are poop now that all affixes are not only random but more importantly standard for the item slot.

Also the cooldown was a nice benefit for Cataclysm.

In D3, there’s an affix that makes all items indestructible, so they really ought to apply that affix to all items in D4

Go a step further why are we in 2026 even still wrestling with item damage at all?

They took away gradual damage on use. That at least made sense.

They only take damage when you die. Which makes it a useless mechanic in hard core. Otherwise, it’s very easy to die a couple times due to a particularly annoying elite set up and completely forget to repair your gear.

The amount it costs to repair them is a pittance. It’s useless as a gold sink, and if it was made into one, it would directly compete with things that are actually useful to gameplay, like enchanting, jewelcrafting, warplan node respec, etc. To be a gold sink all of this would have to be completely rebalanced.

It’s far easier and far more sensible to just remove item durability from the game.

And do we also need to have:

  • unmodifiable gear? Imagine you just received your 5GA dreamweapon and the next day you will swap to another build and all it would take to use your dreamweapon would be to change it a bit?
  • the ability to turn every unique item into to a mythic?

Imo that crafting madeness can go where the pepper grows :see_no_evil_monkey:

Isnt that one of the worst and most boring things ever in this game?

I would rather spend another 10 seasons doing tiny circle events than this crafting horror. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Instead of keeping cube upgrade to mythic just make mythic a possible outcome from transfiguration.
