Can you put up a Firewall or Incinerate build that’s meta level performance? Are you implying the reason why these builds are less performant is because the players making these builds are making weak builds, but if they know what they are doing, they can make these weak builds really strong?
It sucks for homebrew builds, too, no doubt. But it also sucks in general. That’s what I’m saying.
I wonder how short-sighted the devs are sometimes. or not. meh.
metaslave or bust I suppose.
There has to be a top build or set of builds.
When you have a system, you have a finite number of combinations.
The larger the system, the larger number of combinations.
You can have homogeneity, or granularity. The more granularity you have in a system, the less balance you have in that system.
There must be winners and losers.
D4 has a very large amount of granularity. Thus there are bad choices and a large amount of variability between good and bad builds.
You can have things this way, or you can lean towards all builds being the same. Then you have no creativity and no choices at all.
Which do you prefer?
That was my first thought! Playing only one meta build a season. If you want to have fun and try out other skill builds, because they look cool, you can stop at glyph level 37.164.
I already know the play-loop.
make meta.
slave grind it for mats/gear
make homebew, have fun
this is the underlying game (it really always was though)
You had that creativity before, but everyone could still max out their glyphs.
Both yes and no
No because it’s a “redo X to upgrade”, the yes part is because in order to upgrade it have to push against a higher tier
I like that a lot, it’s a “ok I got stuck damn it” but it also provides a lot of incentive for optimization
Frankly I’m really surprised overall by the changes… Not everything but I like A LOT from what I saw
If you like not maxing out glyphs and being forced to stop at a random ugly number, I can say nothing against it.
The goal is not to not get stuck, the goal is when you get stuck it doesn’t feel like a complete BS (as it currently does with the one-shots and all that)
i.e. can’t keep pushing failure down all the time
Also, hitting temporarily a “brickwall” gives some incentives for alting, that’s always more fun than keep “grinding” forever
Manipulation…why does my escape from reality also do this?
I don’t feel like my builds get stuck right now. I feel like they are near perfect and can rock everything. You defend a change where I now can feel stuck. Not my kinda soup.
I like to get as high as I feel I can go (within reason) on a character before moving on to the next one or playing something else until next season. Seeking perfection is fine and all but you’re going to hit massive diminishing returns on this to the point of it not being fun (doesn’t matter which ARPG it is).
So it’s better to pick a desired (but ideally achievable) personal goal and go with it.
I’m totally fine with not perfect tempering percentages, but glyphs could be maxed out before. They are taking it away for a random ugly number. I probably should just stop playing instead of discussing it here. Maybe I’m the problem being a perfectionist. I just find the change dumb and ugly stylistic wise.
One of the interviews they said “we want each class to have one build to push pit”
Today they are saying “push pit to level glyphs and glyphs go to 100 now so good luck with your rng”
This game went from being made for casuals to being made for streamers.
What do you mean? New max is level 100, and it still incremements by 1 with each level. There’s no level 66.6666, for example.
Guys, game was always made for streamers, make no mistake of that
The reason why you thought it may have been for casuals is cause you just follow a build or guide or whatever
Now at least you can try your own stuff and push as far as you can (without necessarily pushing super hard and super fast and then just getting one shot)
Yeah and no one will achieve it besides people like Rob who get gifted everything from their community or people who rmt. So you will max out at glyph level 63. Wow. So stylish.
Why would you care about how far others get? Sounds like this is a jealousy problem rather than a problem with the upcoming changes.
And if you max out at level 63, so what? You’re already well past were most of the power in that glyph comes from, and likely well into Torment 4.
I care about maxing things out which could be maxed out before and not being forced to stop at a random ugly number. If you can’t comprehend after all these posts, I’m too tired to explain it again and again. I have no problem with you not minding a random number you will be stopped, but I think it is ugly game design wise.
