Hi everyone, I just started playing the game this season and I’m feeling a huge void. Everyone surely wants to try new builds, but there’s something holding us back… Dealing with Paragon points is really tedious. It takes at least half an hour.
I want to suggest a new feature… “Paragon Shortcodes System.” This feature should work like this:
There should be two buttons in the upper right corner of the Paragon screen, one for “Import” and the other for “Share/Export.” When someone clicks the share button, they should see a shortcode field where they can see a code generated based on the current Paragon point distribution, for example, “AKAD2L7237JAJOTQXN139AJAWODL23052.” When they share this code online, another person can take it and paste it into the shortcode input field using the Import button.
The Paragon points will then be automatically distributed, becoming the same as the original. If there aren’t enough Paragon points, it will give an error. A system like this absolutely needs to be implemented.
…and quite some other players would possibly welcome it as well, given the following threads, just going back to early 2025 in the PC General Discussion category:
I myself begin every new season with a minion-focused Necromancer, to combine the season’s mechanics with something I’m more or less familiar with. I’d therefore really welcome such an export/import feature or something along the lines, as my current method looks like follows:
Enter the Eternal realm with previous season’s Necromancer
Make screenshots of skill tree and paragon boards
Make a text file of equipped aspects and unique items
Enter the Seasonal realm with new Necromancer
Taking into account the amount of effort it probably takes to rework certain gameplay mechanics over and over and over, such as loot and tempering and masterworking, the game could really use some basic usability improvements by now. In addition to quite some bug fixing that is…
That’s not news to me, but signing up for a website just to use their build planner doesn’t really mean less hassle. In addition to creating a user account on a website I’d then inevitably only make use of to a very limited degree, I might have to do every click twice then:
Once to store my previous season’s character setup in the build planner
Once again to re-apply it to my current season’s character
As I only ever play homebrew setups, with slight adjustments each season, I’d deem the “screenshot approach” to be waaay quicker for me at the moment, as much hassle as it brings
The first and foremost question is a different one though:
Why does it take third-party tooling, either build planners or screenshots, to “migrate” such things cross-character?
I haven’t played other games from the genre for quite some time, so I can’t tell if any of those provide such features nowadays. At some point in the past though, Blizzard was commonly known to make established game concepts more “accessible”, not necessarily regarding difficulty, but rather regarding usability
Heck, I’d even be fine if the in-game armory would allow me to store and apply such things cross-character:
Store everything to the armory at the end of the previous season
Re-apply it at will (or even just display it as a UI overlay) during the current season
If that would be the case, I might even actually start using the armory…
The Paragon board is costing Blizzard money. I can’t be bothered to make another build or try a new class, and it’s entirely because of the Paragon board. Less playtime means less reasons to buy cosmetics. It’s way too mouse-click intensive. 300 clicks and hunting for nodes every time I want to try something new? No thanks. I’ll wait until next season.
The same can be said to all the preparation(blacksmith, jeweler, occulist) before sanctifying 20 pieces of pants. This is for one item: 20+ clicks to masterwork, more clicks to temper. Walk over to the jeweler, click click click. Then go to the occulist to change aspect and enchant, click click click. Then sanctify the item to get some meh results. The preperation process should be less click intensive. Even Path Of Exile 2 does not require this many clicks with the skill tree and crafting.
So the main problem in Diablo 4 is the click intensive crafting and the paragon board.
