Nerf HOTA's Damage Calculations

Yeah nerf the one good build for the class that still is exponentially below the other 4 classes for nm100 and Uber Lillith clear times.

That makes absolutely no sense. PvP and PvE nerfs should never be linked.

Seriously the people defending an ability being able to literally one shot full squads multiple levels higher than them is ridiculous. I’m fine with it being strong but aoe one shots is pretty dumb. How can you guys seriously defend this.

But that’s the whole point, it can be reduced accordingly without affecting PvE. That has been the point of my posts the whole time. Blizzard has clearly demonstrated their ability to do so across multiple games, Diablo 4 is no exception. So, I ask you, if the ability is absurdly broken in one mode and we can change the potency of that mode without affecting the other, should we not do so for the sake of fairness and balance?

This is what I cannot understand.

How can anyone defend such absurdity which can clearly be tackled is beyond me.

They have already stated balncing wont come from pvp

Yeah, and also in conjunction with the 3 shouts must have, if you nerf HOTA, Barb basicalily can play with his ā€œnormal attacksā€ i.e. the basic skills. I might as well jump into the game throwing left and right punches against mobs.

First’ it will be so weak and second, it’s more boring than the existing HOTA and WW setup.

People virtually have no reason to request for nerfs for HOTA when other classes end game builds just dish out much more damage with range than Barb.

I saw OP edited the post saying that HOTA outshines WW, but allow me to retort that it has big trade-offs:

  1. It only outshines WW because the build has stun and it’s a ā€œone-offā€ hit rather than WW requiring the player to stay with the mobs for damage. That’s called kiting (but ironically the most boring and basic type) because Barb simply lacks tankiness in end game contents (NMD high levels). I am not saying that kiting is not required and Barb should be allowed to stand there 24/7 doing his thing. But think about this: why Barb is the only Class that needs to output damage up close WITHOUT any alternatives when other Classes, including Druid, can be tankier and/or dish out damage from ranged for endgame contents (No hate on Druid at all, the werewolf build is completely OK). You call this fairness?
  2. Further to point 1, WW is NOT outshined by HOTA IF the Barb can tank the damage, due to the fact that a) HOTA needs to stop and attack while WW does not and can have a further increase of MS with Berserking; b) WW builds have an aspect which can pull enemies together; c) the damage consistency of WW can match or compete with HOTA if one can go directly into a cluster of mobs. But sadly the fact is that post NMD 70 WW build become extremely hard to survive so Barb only can rely on HOTA and the basic kiting techniques, in hope that he can run around during shout CDs and go back in for crits (which isn’t even close to 100% with ALL BiS items).

Using WW to compare with HOTA is a mistake and it sidetracks the real issue of the fundamental weakness for Barb - tankiness. If you nerf the only viable build for Barb now, you might as well just delete the Class.

What is the problem here? HOTA should absolutely outshine WW for dmg as one is channeled and the other is 1 attack. Have you played before D4? One has speed the otherone not as fast. There are fair tradeoffs to both.

You must be a troll. Have you seen Uber Lilith clears from other classes? It takes like 30 seconds while HOTA needs 10 minutes.

And with the stealth nerf to HOTA, Barbarian is ultra garbage and unplayable.
Barbarian players: reroll class or quit the game if you don’t want to.

sounds like a special snowflake who got clapped once by hota in pvp and is now looking for vengeance in form of destroying one of only two kinda working skills for barb. in reality hota becomes really bad once facing higher level mobs which don’t die fast anymore. even with maximal invest in defense it’s not enough and playing slow boom melee with permanent ressource problems becomes terrible annoying. something i don’t see on the other classes…

You must be a troll. Have you seen Hota barbs literally tanking the one shot mechanics of Uber Lillith? no other class does that.

You mean the other 4 classes that kill her in ~1 minute while Barb takes 9 minutes? Imagine bringing up an example that proves you’re demonstrably wrong.

They other classes skip it entirely with damage lol ofc I havent seen them tank it.

too many new players here that dont know that barb WW has always been a low level trash farming skill.
