My Meteor Build is Ruined!

Am I missing something? How it was nerfed itself?

Assuming you missed the section of the patch notes stating:

Developer’s Note: We’re seeing Critical Strike Damage and Vulnerable Damage often viewed as a hard requirement for a build’s success in Diablo IV. We believe this is a step towards allowing more builds to flourish and will continue to make changes in support of this goal.

  • Critical Strike Damage: Reduced by ~17%.
  • Lightning Critical Strike Damage: Reduced by ~17%.
  • Critical Strike Damage with Bone, Earth, Imbued, and Werewolf Skills: Reduced by ~17%.
  • Vulnerable Damage: Reduced by ~40%.

I think this is just saying the amount of vulnerable damage from item stats was reduced by 40%; not that it’s secondarily nerfed on top of that.

IE if you look at the same item before/after the patch, it’ll have 40% less vulnerable damage.

We have multiple threads of people reporting hitting for less damage than before the patch.

I was just about to look at my recordings of my own play to make an assessment of what I just saw in game.

Edit: Not seeing hits as big as just last night but it was a short run I managed in game due to connectivity issues. Will head back in game to do some more testing.

This is all about item affixes.
Bonuses from Frigid Fate board and Exploit glyph were not nerfed.
And I can’t find anything in patch notes about nerfs of vulnerable damage itself.

True. Have we checked yet to see if this was retroactively applied? Or is there reason to think it only applies to Seasons?

Not saying what people say is true, but I am seeing various claims that people in game right now are not hitting as hard as they did pre-patch.

Yes, items/skills/aspects already changed on eternal realm.

That’s not how I read it. It literally reads: “Vulnerable Damage: Reduced by ~40%.”

That’s pretty unambiguous. If they meant to say that the amount of “increased damage to vulnerable targets” affix you get on gear was reduced by 40% then they should have that. And also specified that it only applies to gear and not all sources.

Either it’s Vulnerable Damage itself that was nerfed or the person who wrote the patch notes and those who proofread them haven’t mastered elementary school level of grammar.

It’s all inside “Item Affixes” section of patch notes. So it describes how roll ranges of +vulnerable damage item affixes were reduced.
It can be pretty easily seen that paragon vulnerable damage sources were not reduced, and the base vulnerable damage is the same (20%).

Well not to me, it’s not. Regardless, the real joke is that the true ramifications of these nerfs can’t even be properly gauged because they’re so extensive. Bottom line, without nitpicking over minutiae, every class and every build across the board has been massively nerfed on the eve of the game’s inaugural season. That’s a disaster any way you look at it.

Oh, but you can properly gauge them. It’s all a HUGE nerf for popular builds. :rofl:
But there is even more scary thing. Many changes simply not documented in patch notes.

Well that’s certainly true. I just meant that you can’t even tell what was nerfed or gauge which of the nerfs is impacting you the most. It’s a :poop: show for sure.
