Hey,
just wanted to showcase how much of a difference a tower 120 over a 150 truly is.
Each tier after 120 adds another 1.32 Multi as requirement to clear it.
That means to be able to clear a 150 you need to be 414207% stronger or in other words the build that does it, is 4142x stronger then the build doing a 120.
If the 150 is done in half the time that 120 is doing, then you double that number or triple it, if the clear is 1/3 of the 120 clear. So a build that clears it in 3 mins is doing 12426x times more dmg, then a build doing a 120 tower in 9 mins.
This is not healthy for the game in my opinion. Numbers needs to go down a lot or its almost impossible to have ever a state where builds are in a range of 5-10 pit tiers from each other, which would still be a lot, but nowhere near that ridicoulous state we currently have.
cheers.

I always thought the higher levels only exist as a buffer zone, to showcase how off the balancing is each season. The sharp increase of the later levels seem to be intended to make it look not as catastrophic.

But think about it, they designed builds that are 12000x times stronger then another fully decked out build in its optimum gear, and not some random crappy unoptimized one. This got way out of hand, and they should have realized that.
And then they add more multis which doubles/triples these numbers next season. The gap becomes even wider, even its not neccesary since by that point the 150 would be trivial.

I just don’t understand dmg numbers .why we need So much dmg? in S1 we had milions dmg And game was ok . Why just dont do lower numbers ,but same Power for classes? Game Is out of control with this dmg And where can game go ,when we doing already thousands trilions And every season it Is more And more .

it has a bit to do with the psychological, since nerfs/numbers reductions ppl generally disliked, but now we are in this loop again, that at some point the numbers squish becomes unavoidable, or we see the infinity symbol again on some Builds.

the fact that this is even possible shows how rotten the balance and itemization is.
i think a good spread between high / low builds is 5 - 10x, not 4500x lol

I know what you mean. These numbers are ridiculous and they know it but I doubt it was ever intended to land at this point.
My impression with the game so far is that the devs lack the expertise and the guts to bring numbers on a different track. Because I have never played a game like Diablo 4 before, where design choices were so random. After 3 years I am convinced that even if they change the numbers, they will likely end up at this point again. This is not least due to the devs being really anxious about fixing anything that could possibly lead to disappointment. So the only way from here is more Torment tiers and more Pit levels.

next season we might see 20000x or more difference, since giving all builds the same new multis, buffs the strongest builds more
. Content becomes trivial, and guess what we get, more Torment tiers instead of a real solution, which then widens it even more, since low builds are still stuck at the point they are now, and dont get much from that increase.
I dont understand how can be for example some weak build - weak build many seasons in row … If i see that nobody doing this build And IT Is weak ,next season Will do double dmg from aspect or skill ranks . But what Is super weird many builds never be strong from S1 And they Are still weak .how can be skill weak 3 years And dev just keeped like this …
that is a different problem. But these ridicoulous numbers makes every balancing attempt extremely and unneccesarily difficult, some say even impossible.

Easy example:
-make good order for 50 people =no problem
-make good order for thousand trilions people =…
I really do laugh out of silliness when I play anymore…DIV is a joke. fun at times and a good time sink, but a joke

i noticed Macrobioboi was using 2 different formulas while explaining.
from pit 80 to 100, each pit requires 17x more damage, so
next pit damage = previous pit damage + (previous pit damage * 17%)
which leads to the conclusion of a 2311% or 23.11x multiplier.
but in pit 120 to 150, he stated a scenario that requires about 30x more damage to advance.
then he uses:
1.32^30 = 4142.07x more damage.
so, are there 2 different scaling in the pit? or is Macrobioboi just simplifying it for explaining?

its 1.17 till pit 120 per pit tier, after its 1.32 per tier.
nothing wrong with what he said its just that towards the end, the last 30 tiers it gets steeper. He even said that, if you paid attention to it
and the ridicoulous number needs to be shown alot more, otherwise most ppl do not understand why numbers needs to be tuned down.

This is the part where I struggle to understand where you’re coming from.
Someone doing pit 150 doesn’t impact me at all. I still get to play the game and enjoy it. I get to improve my character and have fun in the process.
To me the unhealthy part is looking at what others are doing rather than just enjoying what you’re doing.

Macrobioboi makes himself out to be alot smarter than he actually is to be honest
well that is ofcourse true. But we all know that this is not how the game works currently.
Also it becomes an issue when content is designed around having that kind of power, or when you struggle playing that content while others just cruise. And they did that in the past on multiple occasions.
Glyph leveling is a prime example, while you struggle and have a lot less fun in the pits(personally i hate pits anyway, but thats another topic) others just cruise thru, and can easily level glyphs for many builds in the process, while u struggle to even get one build glyphs to enough power.
Also it makes reigning in these outliers difficult. And you generate a false type of expectation, because it trivializes the content for the Meta Builds. And those ppl then demand more Content/higher difficulties, while others that play offmeta/weak classes have a complete different experience.
@zachfe
actually the opposite is true, he is very humble, and doesnt take himself too serious. He deserves much more credit for his work. That is my opinion, also i do not measure smart, that is what weird ppl do.

But everything you just said is comparing yourself to others. If there was no way to know what others are doing you’d never know. I make my own builds. They aren’t as good as the meta builds online so I’m always going to struggle to push the highest levels. But that’s fine. I’m satisfied that I was able to make progress by myself. If someone else did it easier and quicker than I did so what? Doesn’t impact me.

if thats fine for you, all good. My opinion is different and i think it creates an unhealthy environment in the Playerbase, and weird dynamics between the players and Blizzard, with a lot of Feedback based on some expectations because of misinterpreting differences in power. And the danger that Blizzard making some very bad decisions goes up in my book, if what they say is true, and player feedback is important for them. Which ultimately affects every player.
Also that i have my own opinion about it is normal or not? But the first part is just a showcase of the numbers, nothing more, and what you make out of it is ur decisision.
I create my own builds too, but i also have no issue playing my own version of a metabuild. It just depends on what i wanna do playstylewise that season.
That’s one of the biggest problems with the game. Rather than being linearly increasing multipliers off of a base value, pit/tower scaling is exponential because each one multiplies off of the previous.
Similar to the problems of player power as well.
