Mendeln funions - build

I realy wish their endgame base damage scaleing would be better. Like instead of a % of weapon damage, it would be like (totaly made up number) x1% per characters pragon level. Your weapon damage is going to hit a wall no matter what.

This I definitely agree with.

Mages aren’t much better. The 6th proc eclipses the preceding 5 attacks (including double casts)

Instead of a proc, the ring aspect needs to be a flat damage add with the aoe explosion effect being applied to the 6th attack. (should be every attack but that’s a hill to die on later)

Yeah this is true for all the minions, i just used warriors as my example.

My personal opinion is combining what someone else said, that being the mendeln proc should simply be a percent of what the minions 6th attack was, but as an AoE explosion.
So lets say its 50%, then when the minion attacks for 100 damage, the 6th attack explodes for 50 damage as an AoE. Now on its own this would be a nerf in multiple orders of magnitude.

However, I think minions need to inherit far more base damage, this was something I was harping on about long before they gave minions 100% stat inheritance from the necromancer.
My idea would be, each level from 1-60 minions would inherit more and more base damage, simply to avoid a situation in the early game of minions 1 shotting everything. But the point being, in the end minions would have really good base damage so they would be very powerful without mendeln, but mendeln would act much like any other unique of giving a good 50%x more damage along with some utility in the form of AoE.

I am sure there are plenty of holes in this idea, but thats my 2p

The build has pitiful AOE as is, the radius needs to be expanded and/or tendrils needs a shorter cooldown with a shorter animation. The only way things die in a reasonable time in higher pits is if everything is stacked on top of each other using tendrils to where the minions can effective “AOE” with mendeln procs.

By the time my tendrils get ready to pull mobs in, the other builds have already cleared the area and moving forward. It also doesn’t help that a corpse is needed just to initiate the tendrils pull.

edit: there also needs to be a way to make the minions unstoppable. Every elite that fears or freezes results in heavy damage downtime for at least half of the army at any given time.

I was thinking about some of these faults today. Had a few ideas.

  1. Minions prioritize mobs hit by our core skills.
  2. Minions get unstoppable on golem activation, same as we do.

Seems easy enough to implement and fixes two large problems minions face.

Or when CC’d skeletal priest makes them unstopable.

I haven’t been able to test this, but I’m curious if corpse attack speed would speed up CT windup animation. CT definetnly needs instant lashing out and pulling in, instead of waiting for the tendrils to wiggle out.

Change army of the dead to a utility alt.

My new dream version:

Army of the dead
Army of the dead last 7 seconds with a 60 second cooldown.
Each rank increases its duration and reduces its cooldown.

Activating army of the dead

  • Your minions are unstoppable for 3 seconds

While Army of the dead is active

  • Your minions attack’s will provide you with 2% maximum life as barrier, this barrier will last for 10 seconds after Army of the dead has ended.

First upgrade:

  • Army of the dead also raises your dead skeletal warriors and mages.

Second upgrade:

  • Your skeletal warriors and mages will rally to your golem aid! (in other words they will attack/move to wherever you click your activate golem button)

Frankly, I think CT activation should be sped up by attack speed. We shouldn’t even need a separate stat for corpse skill attack speed.

Too many aspects and affixes for necros.

Though to your question, I believe it does speed up CT activation time, just as it speeds up BCE pulse rates. Would have to test though… after somehow stacking something like 100% corpse attack speed to make a noticeable difference.

I would love to see the second upgrade also working at Soulrift - it is just such a big multiplier for damage & survival! and at least for now, I can set the Reapers to CDR while generating most of my corpses with Soulrift - I will see in 12 paragon level how good it will work, when I combine it with Flesh Eater.

Nice buffs for my two legacy Mythics so far - now at least I could manage to clear T65 with my old stuff and just new panties while having 7.6k HP/Barrier/Fortify with Elixir of Fortitude II and also two incences for resis. Before it would only be around 4.3k including everything.

I am going to switch to a thorns minion build soon. That ring sucks big time. Every 6th attack and its a small AOE. Currently running shademist cursed aura with great feast and absolutely melting. I just walk around and my army does the rest.

I too have discovered that using Fel Gluttony is the best way to lower your Golem’s cooldown.

I also noticed that Aphiotic is no longer lowering your cooldown. Like you, I tried to use Aphiotic to see if I could lower my Soulrift cooldown, and it didn’t work like it had in previous seasons.

I notice this too, looks like isnt working.

Its about time to give minions some small chance of luck hit, perhaps the new luck hit passive add some % to minions.

Thorns not looking very strong though. Chill to play for sure.

FYI, to those who may not have noticed. Fel glutton procs flesh eater. It’s super easy to prove it. Just go to the dummies with corpse reapers. Stand well out of range and just keep hitting golem and watch it fill up flesh eater in seconds.

It’s a wonderful interaction and I hope it never gets fixed if it’s not intended.

Yes I wanted to comment this. Fel Gluton maintains Flesheater realy smoothly.

It’s actually become my favorite aspect. Something that smoothly and seamlessly interacts with corpses. Plus it is so wonderful at pruning corpses to keep them out of the cleanup routine that leads to phantom corpses laying around.

Why it is not intended?

The description clear say it consume corpse, which is what needed to proc flesh eater and fueled by death.

The aspect is awesome, im using it since i found a item with it.

I believe the intention with flesh eater is when you perform an action that consumes corpses, not Mr golem eats corpses like they are zero calories to trigger it

Honestly, if it is an unintended interaction, it shouldn’t be fixed. It’s pretty harmless and actually enhances fun.

It is not unintended the golem consumes the corpses for you and benefits from it. It’s another corpse consumeing tool for the necro. It’s like casting CE or Raise Skeleton. The golem basicly becomes a corpse skill.
