Melee rogue seems weak

Agree, this appears to be a risk / reward problem. I also played a melee rogue with twist/dash/poison and was certainly having fun but the boss fights were so skill heavy. The world event was the same thing.

Getting close to do DPS leaves so little room for error that you’re constantly getting chip damage.

Played a sorc and the same boss fights felt so much easier. I’m not saying nerf the ranged classes, but you really are playing a different game when you have multiple seconds before giant glowing orbs of death threaten you vs .3 seconds for the animation when you’re next to the boss.

This problem tends to manifest itself in the longer fights. Sure the melee ability might do more damage percentage wise than a ranged equivalent so if you only need to do that ability once or twice to kill a trash mob - no big difference - and you feel powerful. But when you have to do that 50 times near-perfectly to kill a boss? Not to mention you need more time killing the boss because you can only do it once or twice then you need to spend time moving back out of range of their next big attack / aoe etc. While ranged characters can sustain their DPS much more reliably in these situations.

Necros are shield users

After I got into the 15-20 range melee rogue felt much better for me. It’s really only a few bosses that deal a good bit of damage to me.

I’m 23 currently so I don’t have my ult till another level but I’ve been doing good on veteran.

I’m temporarily using poison imbuement for some extra boss / elite damage. Concealment for when I need a moment to heal and it’s also great for applying vulnerability. Shadowstep for some extra dps and the teleport. Flurry is my bread and butter, it deals good damage, I have it set to spread vulnerability and I’m currently using invigorating strike to keep up the flurry spam and vulnerability on bosses.

To keep a little tankier I took Dark shroud and Sturdy 3/3 for more damage reduction.

Normal mobs die pretty much instantly for me, with vulnerability on the target elites die in a couple of seconds and it’s really only proper bosses that take a while longer. Once I level and get Shadow clone I should be able to burst down most bosses quickly too.

I don’t have any melee rogue legendary items, the game seems to want me to go ranged… But with just some generic stuff I’ve been doing well overall. It definitely helps to get some items that boost your survivability.

I do not find the rogue weak in melee at all, on the contrary. I have been playing a build using forceful arrow, flurry and shadow imbuement, and leveling up to 25 has been a breeze.

So you were not playing melee

For your information, Flurry is a core melee skill

I played quite a few classes and at 25 the melee rogue might be the best. Twisted blades with the orbit attribute and the shadow imbument is crazy damage both aoe and single target.
Also using the attribute to make your basic attacks +50% attack speed lets you get the combo points so fast you can use your twisted blades almost every second.

Melee Rogue is freaking awesome and nowhere weak.
Here is the build i used.

This is my build:
Invigoration Strike (1) - Enhance Invigoration Strike - Fundamental Invigoration Strike
Twisting Blades (5) - Enhanced Twisting Blades - Improved Twisting Blades
Sturdy (3)
Shadow Step (1) - Enhanced Shadow Step
Concealment (1) - Enhanced Concealment
Agile (1) - Mending Obscurity (3)
Dark Shroud (1) Enhanced Dark Shroud
Poison Imbuement (1) - Enhanced Poison Imbuement - Mixed Enhanced Poison
Shadow Clone (1)

There are two key legendaries you need:
-Wirling Twisting Blades (they circle around you)
-embossed: if a dazed enemy is hit by an agility skill you get 4 seconds of stealth

Here is the combo… you move up to your target, punch with invigoration strike for 3 combo points and then once or twice with twisting blades, let the wirling blades do their job and then use shadow step to vanish for four seconds and heal during that time thanks to “mending obscurity”

If you need energy or heal instantly just use “concealment”.

Its so powerful especially against bosses. I had overpower crits up to 1600 on level 25 … and if thats not enough, poison will eat bosses like nothing…

??? Combo points? What???

You get combo points unlocked at level 15.

I haven’t had much time to play honestly. I don’t get weekends off

Melee rogue is weak, I played one to 15, same with th necro. Rogue died quite often, necro died not even once. But how should that be with 9 corpses fighting for you while the rogue has to be in the middle of the action . xD
